When we post “shit list”s it’s usually ’cause they’re undeniably shitty. (Greatest Punk Albums, anyone?) But College Humor‘s suggestions for best songs to belt while blasted ain’t bad! Their criteria included: immediately recognizable opening, easy to remember lyrics, and killer solo for air guitarring (their words, we approve). Here’s the list (via Whitney):

5. “Paradise City” – Guns N’ Roses
4. “Baba O’Riley” – The Who
3. “Sweet Home Alabama” – Lynyrd Skynyrd
2. “Livin’ On A Prayer” – Bon Jovi
1. “Don’t Stop Believin’” – Journey

Now dig deep for a remembrance of drunken-nights past, and hit us with your favorite tunes to booze and croon to. Let karaoke be your guide.

The only way this works is if you have a solid group of followers in the room, but a classic favorite.

Hey guys this list is awesome. I just went to the first of season BBQ and we did a bit of around the fire singing and guitar playing. I was tasked with getting a book together with all the BEST song lyrics and tabs for this summer! This is a great starting point!

Were is the Dave? That’s our favorite! Ants Marching went over well. Bobby McGee?

    Cheers from Boston!

Let me throw a few C&W songs into this list. Mind you, I’m not a big fan of New Country, Overproduced Nashvillywood crap . . . but sometimes they get it right.

Here’s a few of my favorites, in no particular order.

    1. Alcohol – Brad Paisley

    2. Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off – Joe Nichols

    3. Chug-a-Lug – Roger Miller

    4. Family Tradition – Hank Williams Jr.

    5. Friends in Low Places – Garth Brooks

Now, you might claim you don’t like Country Music, but I pretty much guarantee that if you’ve got a few Lone Stars down the pipe you’ll be singing along with these songs from the first verse (or the second chorus . . . which you’ll have memorized by the time it comes around).

Play Otis Redding’s “Sittin’ On the Dock of the Bay” and count the drunk baby boomers trying to whistle to that one.

Bohemian Rhapsody? Seriously? Yeah, maybe if you’re a douchebag, but otherwise – not.

I like a lot of these posts, but “Tessie” by The Dropkick Murphys needs to be on here. Especially if you’re in Boston.
