Delorean headlined at the Echo on Friday night, but they probably could have (and should have) played a bigger venue. According to photographer Andrew Youssef, many people were turned away from the sold-out show, and, once inside, the tiny space was so hot that condensation dripped down on the audience. Combine that with an enthusiastic crowd (Andrew says they rocked it, the requisite stagediver at the end probably agrees), and you know that most of that condensation came from audience dance sweat. Teengirl Fantasy and Wait. Think. Fast. both opened, with Teengirl Fantasy providing a nice ramp up to Delorean (hazy pop leading into dance-worthy rhythms).

  1. Awesome show, but unbearably hot.

  2. I really wish the Teengirl LP would drop. I haven’t heard any date for 7am yet.

  3. The Echo is a perfect venue for this kind of band, crowd notwithstanding. I enjoyed Delorean at SXSW and really liked Dephic’s Echo gig recently. Again, a big crowd. I’m assuming newer bands like the idea of turn-away crowds for their initial LA appearances–it’s good for buzz if not comfort.
