It’s been a little while since our last round of conjecture on the status of an In Rainbows followup; this time, though, it’s straight from the horse’s mouth, as the famous Mr. Ed let fly a flurry of quotes on the status of the band’s now certainly forthcoming LP8. In speaking with Adam Buxton’s BBC6 radio show, O’Brien’s set this next few months as the intended release date for the album (“Ideally it would be great if it came out sometime this year. It has got to. I hope so. We’re at the finishing line.”), and had no issues with stoking your expectations for another masterpiece: “We’re in the heart of the record, I feel like this is the best record we’ve ever made.” Say whoa. More: “It’s genuinely exciting. It’s very different from what we did last time. It’s really nice to be doing this. It’s so good to be making music with the band that you feel is still as good as it’s ever been.”
At Ease has dutifully transcribed the salient quotes, though if you’d like to take a listen to RadioEd in his own words, talking about the process, how In Rainbows was a slog, and his love for the band’s perpetual producer Nigel Godrich, hear the full interview here:

Fuck yes, I’m ready for this! Although Ed’s opinion on the new material worries me a bit, we all know he has shitty taste in music.
“Shitty taste in music”?
Why would you say that? I’m intrigued.
Brits are silly.
