Good things have been going down for Ferraby Lionheart. The LA troubadour recently signed to Nettwerk, and presently he’s hard at work on the full-length follow-up to the self-titled EP that caught our ear last year. Guitars and pianos apparently aren’t enough for the easy-breezing singer-songwriter,; he invited a full New Orleans-styled brass band in the studio for this nugget, which the Lionheart has been good enough to share with us. The horns are a new look for Ferraby, but he ties the ragtime to the tune’s folkie swing with his unassuming croon.

Lest ye doubt, that right there is the photographic proof that a horn section was in fact in the studio with him. Don’t think they were from New Orleans though. Imposters. Ferraby’s on tour with The Autumn Defense and (soon) with The Walkmen. Check the dates after the jump.

Saw him last night headline a tiny show at Tangier in LA. Pure mellow brilliance. Plus his drummer has a great look and way of playing that reminds me of the cartoon octopus.

  2. When is he coming to Toronto?! :(

I like it. Here’s hoping Ferraby will pay a visit to Nashville sometime soon.
