Fan favorite Slumdog Millionaire has 2/3 of the song nominations, Peter Gabriel’s WALL-E tune the other third. M.I.A. doesn’t get a direct nod, outside of releasing the soundtrack on her imprint. And Golden Globe winner the Boss must be pissed. As far as scores, Slumdog and WALL-E are joined by three other films that had music in them. Read the nominee lists here.

yeah, it’s a major drag ‘the wrestler’ wasn’t nominated for best song.
Man..Slumdog should take all of it!! Such a great movie and how cool would it be to see M.I.A win at the Oscars!!!!!!!???
funny, i just read my own comment and couldn’t tell if i was being sarcastic or not. i like the song quite a bit, it should have been nominated.
Bruce’s song wasn’t eligible — a song that plays over the credits is no longer eligible for Original Song. Which sucks, because that’s hands-down the best song in a movie this year.
But the Wall-E song only plays over the closing credts…
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I could swear the Peter Gabriel song nominated was played over the end credits for WALL-E.
One thing I am certain of, however: Whether by Academy voting or idiotic nomination stipulations, Springsteen got jobbed.
I just read somewhere that there is a rule that the eligible song can only appear on the soundtrack and not any other album. The Boss has “The Wrestler” on his new album also. Such a stupid, stupid rule…
“The Wrestler” was amongst the 49 eligible songs…

They just didn’t nominate it.
whatever, fuck technicalities.
Rachel Getting Married needs more nominations
I found The Wrestler overrated and boring, I’m glad it didn’t get nominated. I just hope Peter Gabriel knocks out the Slumdog songs, Down to Earth deserves it like no other song this year.
I thought Regina Spektor’s song from Prince Caspian was a shoo-in. Kinda sad to see it get no love whatsoever.
