Longtime Bloc Party fan and house-party guru Calvin Harris is releasing his second studio album sometime this year. The first single from the Scotsman’s still-untitled effort is “I’m Not Alone.” The late-night dance track premiered this past Friday on Peter Tong’s BBC Radio 1 show. You can hear how it sounds on Monday morning via Calvin’s MySpace, though you should read his warning first:

Pete Tong had the first play of I’m Not Alone on friday, that’s my new single, it’s on my music player now.
In an attempt to delay piracy i have given it an “I’m Your Nan” remix, so i hope you enjoy that.
Obviously I hope you like it, it’s had some interesting reactions so far – a lot of them good, some of them bad!
For those hating, please be aware that what i’m trying to do is make memorable music, and given that i have already made songs that sound like Acceptable in the 80s and The Girls, and indeed ‘Dance Wiv Me’ it’s time to move on and keep it interesting, which involves taking risks, one of those risks being that perhaps nobody will like it…!
But i would much rather that be the case than i make some cut up distorted blog house tune, i think there is enough of that around at the moment.
So give it a chance won’t you?
Thanks
Calvin x

You can give the “I’m Your Nan” remix a chance here. If you find that version annoying, check out “I’m Not Alone” in non-Nan form at Hype Machine.

already tune of the year, and it’s not even out yet

Gotta say despite what people say about him, he’s managed to bang out tune after tune re-inventing himself and changing genres, his 80′s pop to “Dance with me”, and now onto “I’m not alone”. the first time i heard this the intro made me expect a nice chilled indie tune, then when the synths drop…….. WHOA!!! euphoric at its best, well done Calvin and best of luck with the single, hope you get the recognition you deserve

  14. Calvin…it took 20 seconds of hearing this to realise it is a dance anthem in the making ala Faithless, Darude, Liquid, Strike, etc. Your creative talents and versatility are refreshing. Soon as its released it’ll be in my playout box (well my MP3 playout system these days) Good luck with a potential number 1. Oh and if you need a radio ad for it ;)…. Deadly!!!

I totally dig Calvin Harris! Wish he was better known where I live. Can’t wait to buy this track–when does the single drop?

This song is fuckin wank. Just a complete rip off of the Ferry Corsten remix of Madagascar by Art of Trance. Which, no doubt probably sampled the hell out of something else. The guy’s a cunt.

Calvin, you’re music rock. “I’m not alone” is the best thing I’ve heard in 2009.
You look great, don’t give a shit about what people saying about you.

Love the song. One question though, is it Antony from Antony and the Johnson singing on it? It sounds alot like Antony.
    Thankies x

Hi Calvin, just wondering if you’ve heard “Madagascar” by Art of Trance, released about 10 years ago? I only ask because your song is almost identical.

Great track, was listening to it on the way back from a saturday outing with my Son, great driving music, best of all it was followed on the radio by Dizzee Rascals Bonkers, which is another fantastic driving tune. If I’m honest I’d like to wait for a more “clubby” remix to be released rather than buy this as it is, although I appreciate it has potential to be an awesome club tune. As it is its good but Im a listener of Dance and house with ministry of sound albums and the like in my collection, but I am really excited that more “indy” artists are turning there talents to dance.

who cares if its a sampled song last time I checked half the shit I hear thesedays is sampled or re-engineered, I’m a huge calvin harris fan! this single is such a far step out of the first album I’m literally amazed everytime I hear it because if this songis any preview of what the rest of the album is like than it will be fucking amazing!

Calvin, just wanted to say that I think your music is great and I think you are a true talent.
And Andy, everyone samples or draws inspiration from old songs, it’s all in the name of making good music. So fuck off.
