The Klaxonsification of the A’Monks on the ass-kicking first single from Favourite Worst Nightmare gets some visual accompaniment here, with a slinky-clad dance troupe doused in quick flashes of technicolor, spliced with some old-school archival film footage. First mention of Brian comes with a glimpse of a wide-smiled himbo, but the fact that the Monkeys themselves never escape the sepia — and that the tune ends on “See ya later, innovator” — has us thinking they’re attacking something a little closer to home than beach-fed excess. Good shite.

  1. As someone named Brian who’s name is frequently misspelled as “Brain,” I appreciate the Arctic Monkeys for their first foray into humor and wordplay. Also, this would be a great wrestling name, were I a wrestler.

I hate to admit it, but this song is pretty damn good. Especially since their first album was all hype and no good tunes.

Jeeeeesh, what a great song. I can only hope that the rest of the record hits as hard as this.

  5. Sweet song/vid. Can’t wait for the album.

  6. I thought they broke up?

Like the song, not really a fan of the video.

I’ve never been impressed by anything I’ve heard from them before, but this is actually pretty damn good. Well done, Monkeys (and if they’re taking a dig at the ‘nu rave’ thing, even better).

I really like the song and the video. I’m basing my judgement on the video on the fact that I actually watched and enjoyed the whole thing. Good job!

    why are they so good?

  15. That was ridiculous. How’s that even fair for the rest of the bands trying to make a good song? Do you even try? Good gawd.
