After releasing a series of much-praised EPs, blogger-beloved Austin indie poppers Voxtrot are finally offering up a self-titled full-length this May, from which “Kid Gloves” is the first sample. The band brings some strings by the tom-friendly tune’s B section (no surprise if you’ve seen ‘em live), with Ramesh calling himself “a vanity whore” and begging his muse to “cheer me up, I’m a miserable fuck.” The man’s got a way with words.

Voxtrot is out 5/22 on Playlouder/Beggars.

    zzzzzz

  8. The Voxtrot album doesn’t hit the first time and most people won’t give the whole album another full listen because it doesn’t have anything that gets you as much as Missing Pieces or Mothers… but it is a really good album which could possibly have been improved if they had decided to include a couple of EP tracks; but it was a brave decision not to. Either way, Introduction, Firecracker and this track are excellent, new single Blood Red Blood is very good too. And they are fantastic live. J’adore voxtrot.

  9. The new album sucks, I’m sorry. Nearly every song on it sounds a bit too self-important, a bit too Bono for me. The only track that resonated with me was Every Day, which the only track I’d say was on par with or even better than Voxtrot’s previous stuff.

Whatever, I like it, fuck you guys. =P

Reminds me a lot of Aloha “summer away.” His voice and the use of xylophone, or at least I think it is.
