The Cass Bird & Molly Schiot-directed video for the Raveonettes’ cover of the Stone Roses’ 1989 debut opener “I Wanna Be Adored” starts with and returns to a pair of clunky green Doc Marten boots — a personal detail of the younger half of the clip’s odd couple, true, and this whole thing was put together to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the punk-beloved shoe company, Dr. Martens. On the Raveonettes last album In And Out Of Control, Sune Rose Wagner and Sharin Foo reminded me of Jesus & Mary Chain/Phil Spector/Magnetic Fields’ Distortion. Here, they go in a different, airier direction.

Good job Raveonettes!
Awesome cover.
Pretty meh.
Might grow on me. Made me want to listen to the original again though, fantastic album, fantastic opener.
I adore this video.
Interesting cover. Is it too obvious to mention the video’s clear debt to Harold and Maude?
I am in no way trying to be a bitch, but I’m surprised to learn this band still is making music.
