You guys love lists, and we love to start our holiday weekend early, so thanks VH1 for putting together this 100 Greatest Artists Of All Time countdown. (Spoiler Alert: No Wavves…) You should compare it to VH1′s 100 Greatest Artists Of Rock & Roll from 1998 (back when VH1 was VH-1) to see some of the overlaps/differences. For starters: The Top 5 “Rock” vs “Of All Time” is the same group, except for Jimi Hendrix who’s been pushed to No. 6. It’ll also give you an idea of how VH1 defines rock & roll. And how much it sucks to be the Eagles. Trivia: Which artist has drunkenly crashed his car the most times? Highest ranked artist to be pelted with plastic bottles? Did Biggie beat Tupac? Which version of Journey made it? But it’s not all about long-suffering has-beens: I, for one, am happy for Def Leppard.

  1. In regards to coldplay, they have really unoriginal music. And not just because I think so, which is what most people think is all the evidence they I need. I mean this to the point that they were sued for copyright infringment for the song “viva la vida” because they took the whole melody and chord structure from joe satriani. In the same respect, Elvis did nothing but be the first white person to try rock and roll, which essentially is doing nothing. He was in the right place at the right time, he wasn’t a genius or anything. To me, and I’m not VH1 so my opinion doesn’t matter in this, greatest is about originality, and influence, and musical talent. In that same respect, I don’t think people should argue which music is better unless they have a reason like those things, because I’ve grown tired of people saying which music is better based on the fact that they like it. That really means nothing. Bring on the angry replies anyone, I think it’l be fun.

  2. how are any of these rappers above Eminem man he won 14 gramys and had a song win an oscar 4 rap albums of the year and one of them was up for album of the year he better then all these other rappers man he never got the recognition he deserves

    • since Em’s being doing songs with pop stars instead of making fun of them he’s got a shit load of recognition…..14 year old girls who now say there Eminem fans…

  3. The list is a good one. Every artist in the top 20 deserves to be there except for Prince, his ranking has been vastly inflated. The only real oddity that i can see is Justin Timberlake being on the list (i assume a friend of his added him in). A notable omission (that many have mentioned) are heavy metal pioneers Deep Purple, they are definitely worthy of a spot. Although Eric Clapton is on the list as a member of Cream, he should also be listed as a solo.

  4. i think the rolling stones list is really a lot more accurate, as it is based on who really made a definite impact on music
Michael Jackson number 2, seriously?! before dylan? before elvis? before the stones? before marley?before led zeppelin???
i know he sold a lot of albums and created a lot of hype (but that’s just cause people buy more records these days and are more into scandals than into real music and message – and really if he wouldn’t have died like he did he wouldn’t have been so big) but people like dylan and marley made more than just good records, they inspired their generations through being honest and continue to do so even now.
i’m sorry i just think it’s insulting to a rank mj before a man who influenced eveyone from the beatles to steve jobs and obama, broke barriers, rasied awarness on the social issues of the times – like (nuclear) war, discrimination against black people – and changed music forever.

  5. The Rolling Stone list is a joke. This at least has a much broader panel voting.

  6. and what about oasis?? they’re the greatest band of the last 20 years…c’mon, this list is shit except sure beacuse the beatles are in no.1

  7. How is Journey 96! JOURNEY! come on. Has anyone ever heard of Iron Maiden??? where were they? There is no way prince is in the top ten or the top twenty or the top fifty. Johnny cash should have been higher. 70 for Def Leppard is horrible, and 77 for Lynyrd Skynyrd makes me mad. I actually did like the placement for Bob Marley he was a very iconic artist and deserves top ten but 11 is good for him. For all the great things they said about Metallica on the show i can’t believe they weren’t higher.

  8. Looks like facts are no longer taken int concideration….ELVIS OUT SOLD EVERY ONE INCLUDING THE BEATLES…HE ” IS” # 1 Makes no matter what this lamb program says.

  9. CHECK OUT THE REAL FACTS…. ELVIS IN FRONT OF EVERYONE BY A MILE!

  10. this list is crap!! pearl jam at 93 how can you put them there with such great songs like “black” and “betterman” they where just as big as Nirvana and they got 14
there is no way that jay-z is the best rapper ever, back in the mid 90s jay-z would get smashed by Big-L in there freestyle jams and big L isnt even on the list!! they should have put nas and big-l on there with 2pac and biggy. Dont get me wrong jay-z is a good rapper but he’s got nothin on nas and big-L
and last of all where the fuck is koRn??
they made a whole new genre of music while grunge was still flying strong. Jonathan Davis voice is amazing. not only can he sing angry and weird but sing soft too.
other then that this list is ok i gess…..pretty good for MTV im surprised they didn’t put lady gaga number 1 lol

  11. radiohead might be the best artist of all time. if you think about it, they are one of the most acclaimed bands of all time, and i hesitate to say (no haters please) they are probably better songwriters than the beatles. no kidding the beatles had a huge impact on music, but radiohead are one of the deepest bands ever. BUT i guess radiohead haven’t had that big of an INFLUENCE (try equaling ok computer) but quality-wise they win the top 10. the beatles are a pretty good choice, but its old news. choose something that we haven’t seen at number one often. also, no jazz artists AT ALL? john coltrane at least in top 100. herbie hancock, miles davis, ad thelonious monk should be in there (waste ur time on justin timberlake and george michael) and saleswise, boston should be 100-90, no higher. mj, overrated a bit too much ( i can agree with top 10 but #2 come on) more britpop (smiths, oasis, stone roses) ERIC CLAPTON FOR GODS SAKES, madonna at #16? lawdy, she had barely ANY impact on music whatsoever, and whoever has the balls to put beyonce ahead of little richard is beyond me. rick gets the top 10, easy. i could blab on for hours, but this list was basically made to piss people off. it doesn’t make any sense at all, and i just wonder who they chose to vote on this

  12. Where the hell is Janet Jackson?!! Without Ms. Jackson there would be no Beyonce!

  13. I’m of the older generation, and of all the artists on the list, and most of them deserve to be on the list, my favorite is AC/DC. However, saying that, I’ve always wondered that one of the most influential music singers and especially songwriters, in my opinion of all times, always gets left off these lists. He has written more songs for more people that have been hits than anyone else, even wrote hit songs for Elvis. Neil Daimond. Why is he never on these lists? Once again, I’m a rock fan and love all the 70′s, (especially 80′s), 90′s, and even now still love good rock songs being released. I just think that Neil is overlooked. Everyone has their style of what they think is great or good and the artists they think should be higher on some list, this is just one of mine.

  14. What’s so ironic about all the racist remarks from white users on this board is the majority of white artists making this list were originally influenced by black music. But hey, no one ever said racism leads to rational thought I suppose.

  15. All I can say is I can’t believe no Frank Sinatra or even Beethoven or Mozart? I think it’s just too biased of a list.

  16. Where is Marcus Miller and Miles Daves?! That’s only the Jazz guys they’re missing out. What happened to Herbie Hancock?! BB King ?! LOL this is a messed out Top 100s.

  17. Incubus is the most awesome and talented band i’ve ever heard. They should be one of the top 100 greatest of all time!!!! Brandon Boyds awesome voice and lyrics he writes are like no other. Mike is the best guitarist i’ve every heard and the rest of the band, Jose, DJ Kil and Ben Kenny and just as talented, so rock on Incubus, you should be number one : )

  18. Is no one concerned that Justin Timberlake is on this list? haha

  19. Lets state the facts:
    Most number-one albums
    The Beatles (19)
    Jay-Z (12)
    Elvis Presley (10)

To say Jay-Z is not deserving is ridiculous.

  20. no Clapton……dumb

  21. Where are the eagles? Number 1 selling album of all time, 29 million to thrillers 27 million and they aren’t even on the list? Really? And sublime, I think they should be somewhere on there as well.

  22. Why isn’t ZZ Top anywhere on the list? They are as good as it gets…

  23. Third Eye Blind shoul definitely be on there, because they are simply amazing.

  24. chuck berry should be the top 10

  25. here’s my top 10

    1. the beatles
    2. bob dylan
    3. the rolling stones
    4. elvis presley
    5. led zeppelin
    6. jimi hendrix
    7. james brown
    8. prince
    9. bob marley
    10. chuck berry

  26. I do realize there are many bands and musicians , but Justin Timberlake and no Roy Orbison. Give me a break. With this level of talent on the list I’m surprised I didn’t see Britney Spears name on the list.

  27. No Gary Glitter??? Wtf???

  28. Or Derick and the Dominos??? Blind Faith?

  29. one of the best lists i’ve found but still a few flaws such as biggie being higher than tupac and red hot chilli peppers not on there. But its a hard thing to do and they’ve done it better than the rolling stones and a couple of others for sure.

  30. Wheres the Red Hot Chili Peppers? Coldplay should be way higher!

  31. i think this list sucks

  32. Justin Timberlake before Janis Joplin??? And where is Annie Lennox?

  33. I’m not gonna talk about the list itself… I’m just gonna ask… Where the hell is Frank Sinatra?

  34. NO RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS!!!!!!!!!!!!! :O, MTV you have lost all respect from me you piece of shit music company get your shit straight.

  35. I don’t even know what to say about this list. How on earth is Beyonce higher on the list than the Doors, Rush, Cream, and Journey? Also…where the hell is ERIC CLAPTON. Were my eyes playing tricks on me? Because it doesn’t look like he is on there. He is one of the greatest guitarists of ALL TIME. He has had his hand in fantastic music ever since he hit the “music scene”. And as someone else pointed out, George Harrison isn’t even on the list. What about Boston? They are a freaking excellent band and they didn’t even make the list and Madonna is number 16? What about Stevie Ray Vaughan? What about the Temptations? BB King? The Beatles are my favorite band so no argument there. And anyone who says they weren’t deep as artists obviously don’t know much about them. Listen to how the music evolves from their earlier albums to their later albums.

Ugg, this is just so disappointing. Some of the bands/artists on here just don’t deserve to be on this list. And there are a bunch who aren’t on here that should be!

  36. GARTH BROOKS…… he is the second best-selling solo albums artist in the United States of all time. He is the best-selling albums artist in the United States in the SoundScan era. He has won 2 Grammy Awards, 16 American Music Awards (not including the poll of “Artist of the ’90s”)……………..Is this not a poll for the best artist of all time?

    • Artist… not singer of songs. With all due respect. Hank, Kenny Chesney, but Chris Gaines? BUT… I respect you having an opinion!!! Cheers to that! Rock on Jody8820!

  37. There are many bands we didn’t didn’t see on here, Slade, Steve Miller, Mellencamp, Cinderella and many more

  38. Are you kidding me? No place for Buddy Holly, Paul Simon, Blondie, Dire Straits, or Sherryl Crow on your Top 100 list? No credibililty whatsoever. What a joke.

  39. O.K.,
Coldplay (Not even worth explaining except that is what you can do with no talent and a sponsporship from Budweiser)
Cheap Trick (two words: CHEAP and TRICK)
The Pretenders ( I would be pretending if I said they impacted me in any way but changing the channel)
Kiss (GREAT band… taught me that I CAN get laid wearing makeup)
Sade (yeah… a big impact on getting laid in high school)
    All make this list?????
How many performances have been performed and how many attendees have been to see The Grateful Dead over the past 45 years??? I don’t have any bootlegs of Cheap Trick! They had a profound, inescapable impact on modern culture and the entirety of music as a whole whether or not you “were on the bus” or not.
    The Allman Brothers
    Stevie Ray Vaughn
    Sam & Dave
    Yes
    Nina Simone
    Etta James
    Woody Guthrie
The Little Feat (Keith Richard’s favorite sonwriters and performers in the 70′s!)
    Crosby, Stills & Nash
    Sam Cooke
George Harrison (solo artist~ All Things Must Pass??)
    Supertramp
Eric Burdon W/ and W/out War
Santana (who is this guy anyways??
    Traffic
    Sonny Boy Williams
    Bessie Smith
    Robert Johnson
Miles Davis (Oh Miles, we here at VH1 think Kind Of Blue kind of sucks!)

    Lame placement:
The Band: one of the most influential bands on rock & roll
Ray Charles (I am horrified that Sly or Tina were given a higher slot)
Bee Gees (highest sales for written songs in history, like ‘em or not)

Thanks VH1 for letting me know that when I listen to Kind of Blue, Santana II, Low Spark of High Heeled Boys and Eat a Peach I KNOW I am listening to pure genius and you are listening to ABBA and Sade with vanilla scented candles from Pier One Imports.

  40. carry on my wayward son
    dust in the wind
    song for america
    whats on my mind
    point of no return
    people of the southwind
    hold on
This is the start of a long list of innovative, haunting, and meaningful rock by true artists.
    Top 100? Not without Kansas

  41. Iron Maiden ??The Eagles?? something is wrong with this list.

  42. Blake Mueller, sorry to be so blunt, but you are fat stupid ugly troll. The only good country artist Hank Williams and Johnny Cash? Get the hell out of here.

  43. How can a list like this not include The Eagles?

  44. Where is Dave Matthews Band, Simon & Garfunkel, Frank Sinatra, GEORGE HARRISON, Billie Holiday, CCR, Rod Stewart,Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, the Go-Go’s, and Etta James????????

  45. Allman Brothers is probably the biggest snub in my opinion. They must have been #101

  46. Bob Marley at 11??? Behind Prince, Elvis and Led Zeppelin??
    They are good but C,mon!!!

  47. I’m not sure exactly how, but once you get shot your music is good. Why do I say that? Because Tupac!?! Really? TUPAC!!? I think Guns N’ Roses probably should have been closer to (if not) number one. Yes the Beatles were great and influential, but GnR took one of their songs and made it into a hard rock hit. Oh, and let’s not forget the metal GODS. Metallica. How could radiohead be ahead of the metal GODS? How could he be above the priest either? Who was also considered a metal GOD? Do you know why there is no hip-hop or rap gods? Because they for one suck (in my opinion) and they don’t even make their own music. GODS create. Auto-tuning should not put you on the 100 greatest artists. Especially if you couldn’t sing yourself out of a cardboard box.

  48. O.K.,
Coldplay (Not even worth explaining except that is what you can do with no talent and a sponsporship from Budweiser)

  49. I dont disagree with most of the list, but VH1 is saying that JAY-Z is better than Billy Joel, Tom Petty, Rage Against the Machine, Cream, B.I.G., Otis Redding, Tupac, Eminem, Lynard Skynrd, The Beastie Boys, Green Day, Pearl Jam, and the Band

IS COMPLETE BS!. Dont get me wrong I love some of Jay-z’s music, but The people listed above have more meaningful hits that will outlast any of JAY’s . VH1 Have lost their minds. I guess record sales and media gossip count for a lot or maybe the list is a personal list of someone who is not looking at things objectively. The band for example played with neil young, bob dylan, neil diamond, mac rebinack, joni mitchel, the greatful dead, sha na na, janis joplin and just about anyone who did anything meaningful in music during the 60′s and 70′s. …. and thats just one example. NO WONDER MTV STOPPED PLAYING MUSIC INSTEAD FOR STUPID REALITY SHOWS AND VH1 NEVER MATTERED. NO WONDER. STUPID PEOPLE. CLOGGING THE INTERNET WITH THIS BS. PEOPLE SHOULD KNOW WHAT REAL MUSIC IS NOT THE COOKIE CUTTER STUDIO PRODUCED AND MARKETED GARBAGE.

  50. oh, how could they ever forgot celine dion in the list.. maybe she’s more than anyone else in the list and she is the standard of everyone. celine dion is at the throne. and even barbra streisand is not in the list. peabo bryson as well. youre all so stupid.

  51. Where is Frank Zappa?! That guy is arguably the single most intelligent rock musician EVER!

  52. This is clearly a bullshit list created by the opinions of dad rock fans. Sorry lil bruh but Prince is the best.

  53. Prince 1 Stevie Wonder 2 and uh yeah that should be it :) and lil b 3rd i guess but F@#K all yall prince is better then all those people.

  54. Not having Dave Matthew’s Band on here makes me seriously doubt this list…

  55. This is a shit list

  56. Where is Luther Vandross on this list??

  57. JAY-Z,beyonce on the list and no Mozart.Obvious the hippity hoppers dont know the true
origins of modern music.Bob marley was way too high because his music was very biased and
    sounded the same.Justin timberlake-hahahahha.
No Mozart or any other classical artist=very bad list
    No Eagles=stupid biased hip-hop list
    No Sinatra=mediocre talent nowadays

  58. They dont have a single Clasical ARTIST on the list. They must be out of their minds..

  59. OK, first off, WHY are Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Justin Timberlake and Coldplay even on this list? Why? They don’t even write their own songs OR actually use their own voice (maybe Coldplay?).

Secondly, WHY is Pink Floyd (one of the greatest bands ever lived!) behind Madonna, The Beach Boys, Nirvana or Prince?? WHY? Who wrote this piece of crap?? Pink Floyd is easily up with Led Zep and The Beatles!

  60. where’s Lauryn Hill or the Fugees ?!?!?!?!

  61. Justin Timberlake over RUSH???????? WHAT?????? Someone is on crack….

  62. Am I sniffing glue ?????????? are the Eagles not on here ?!??!?!?!?!? Tell me i missed them…and i do agree that it is biased !

  63. I dont care what anyone says. PINK FLOYD IS THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!! and easily top 5.

PS: They dont give enough respect to Matalica either.

  64. F**k MIMI @ 94 LOL’s xP

  65. Like where is frank sinatra, seriously!!!

  66. If you guys would like a real top 100 artists lost check out rolling stones, it should be on the magazine website, worth checking out, at least they didn’t forget about Howlin Wolf.

  67. Enough with the Jay-Z Queen Quuen didnt make this list bullshit

  68. you r a sun-dial in a digital age…
you dont have any taste in music, its people like you who listen to justin beaver

  69. This list sucks.

  70. You can not have a Beyonce without a Janet Jackson, how is she not on this list. Carly Simon also. I need you all to get this list together.

  71. I doubt Maynard gives a #$%$ about some VH1 list but he or Tool or both should be on it (period). They even go as far to say that the Police were the best 3 man band ever…. Yeh whatever FAIL.

  72. Where is SONIC YOUTH???

  73. I think the Beatles being #1 is absolute BULL and I will tell you why. They were ugly, they really had ZERO stage presence and their music was insipid hardly GROUND BREAKING. I don’t want to seem racially biased but I am black and as much of a rip off as Elvis was, I understood why he was as HUGE as he was; He was musical, gorgeous, he had personality, he had crossover and over again appeal and the man could sing; as fat and caricaturistic(for lack of a better word) as they say he became his voice still REMAINED. Michael Jackson went where Elvis didn’t and that was ground breaking visual artistry with dance moves, stage presence, he had the distinguishable voice, and vocal trademarks, image, and more, he was ELECTRIFYING, he broke every colour barrier, he broke every record, every country in the world knew MICHAEL JACKSON. I didn’t know about the bloody Beatles until I heard the !@#$%^ song “The Girl is Mine” off the !@#$^%&&^ THRILLER ALBUM. So please this list is fixed and no doubt stupid. ELVIS should be 1st, and that is only because he was first and then Michael but if I were in charge MICHAEL HANDS DOWN #1. Bull!@#$ list Y’all needed ask some real music connoisseurs

  74. that is rediculous list, jay-z is upper than eminem, tupac, big. there is clear jay-z’s comtribution is very low than eminem. eminem is the king of rap, sold album more than fucking ja-z,with greatist ever lyrics but there is jay-z up than than eminem it is just joke. what is the base of this rating? tupac and big are also very best artist than jay-z and beyonce.the list is just joke thogh top ten list is good. if u’ve listed due to their contribution in the music then jay-z and beyonce have been out of top 100 list.

  75. where is Hank Williams Sr, George Jones, or Faron Young

  76. Practically any artist between 67-77 is better than any “artist” after that time. It is tantamount to the current era of baseball records before and after the steroid era. Thanks to the punk “revolution”, music devolved and descended from artistry to corporate performers. Bottled blondes & canned music created by engineers. BEYONCE SADE???? JayZ Really??? I cannot contain myself.

My personal favorites will always be ignored and chided because the sophistication of the music was way above most rock “critics” ability to follow. “Too many notes” as the King told Mozart. “Just remove a few here and there”.
Keith Emerson is clearly the greatest rock keyboardist of all time.
Carl Palmer is arguably one of the greatest percussionists of all time.
Greg Greg Lake well clearly one of the best vocals of all time. (King Crimson, Asia, ELP)

I’m amazed Rush and Genesis made it..

  77. Personally, I don’t think Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake, George Michael, or Coldplay should be on the list.

I think Mary J. Blige and Sade should be ranked lower, or not on the list at all either

Artists I think should replace them should be the Grateful Dead, Red Hot Chili Peppers (they earn it more than Coldplay), Simon & Garfunkel/Paul Simon, Rod Stewart, Frank Zappa, The Eagles, Santana, James Taylor, Steve Winwood, Bonnie Raitt, Patti Smith, Eric Clapton (solo), War, and/or the Allman Brothers Band

  78. They are all GREAT artist and they cant all be number one. Make your own favorite artist list if you dont agree with it

  79. Elvis Presley should be number one, Michael Jackson shouldn’t be on the list, and where the heck is George Strait?

  80. what idiots wrote this list. i dont know what world they were from but ive been in this world since the 1950s and this is the biggest farce ive ever seen. im not a kiss fan and never have been but hey they ruled over a generation and got 56 and artists like prince got #7 ahead of them and ahead of elvis. if elvis wasnt a top 3 pick then there were a lot of voters that dont have a clue. elton john #28. get real, if he wasnt top ten there shouldnt be a top ten. and lastly justin timberlake makes the list and the eagles dont. get off the meth voters

  81. No Red Hot Chili Peppers or Frank Sinatra? smh smh

  82. Rush needs to be ranked alot higher.

  83. And… Where’s Oasis?

  84. Can someone explain why Michael Jackson is higher than Bob Dylan?
    Also Green Day are plagiarists.

  85. Without Bryan Adams list looks like orphan, I’m not giving ‘em damn nickel, those crapheads at vh1 can’t see how beautiful voices and music talents ladies like Dido or Bjork have.

  86. …and like them I also forget John Denver, we should ‘Fly Away’ from here. Plus Verve’s song ‘Bittersweet Symphony’ makes them 1 of the top 5.

  87. No John Mayer? Wow

  88. i agree with the rest except 4 michael Jackson he should be first becus of thriller

  89. were is lady gaga.

  90. were is lady gaga..

  91. No Janet Jackson???? Seriously? There would be NO beyonce if there was no Janet. How do you leave off an icon in her own right but include Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, and Alicia Keys? Stupid.

  92. I don’t see the Allman Brothers Band on this list

  93. Ok im not a huge Lil Wayne fan but how is he not even on this list?????!!! At least at like #90 or something!!! Just saying and Mj should be 1.

  94. Yea this list is terrible

Timberlake, alicia keys, Jay z should not be on her, not even come close
And some acts are way low

Pink Floyd was one a of a kind and what they did can’t be matched
RUSH is way to low, a great band who’s never gotten credit
And some greats are missing, Robert Johnson was amazing, Frank Zappa, Iron Maiden, ELP

Madonna is on this just shows its crap

She is a terrible musician, great at marketing herself

Sorry been listening to music since the 60′s

    This list is crap

  95. O GEE have you folks ever heard of THE CARS, TREX, FOREIGNER, PAT BENITAR, JERRY RAFFERTY, J GEILES BAND, TEN YEARS AFTER, MONTROSE, FOGHAT, BROWNSVILLE STATION. You may want to consider rethinking you list supper tramps. I need to cook my MEATLOAF now have a nice day!

  96. A lot of it depends on what generation your from. Im from the grunge days, so nirvana,to me, should be in the top 5. A lot of the 80s fake rock is just beyond me, and I dont see why people like it. I like a lot of the 70s and 60s music, but the music now a days, for the most part, is just awful. I have no idea why some of those bands made the list, but whatever. From everything you read, nirvana was like the beatles of our time, so they should have been higher up, I think. Ever record they made was awsome, and they were around for a shorter time then the Beatles.

  97. Lynyrd Skynyrd # 77..What a fuckin’ joke…

  98. WTF???? Where the HELL was Bon Jovi not even on there come on they have been around for how long write their own music perform like hell and are great. Yes I like how some ranked but half of the bands on here DONT deserve it who ever put this list together does not know much about music/artist at all the Beatles Led Zepplin alot of deserving bands are on here but this is why i hate watching these things and dont ask why i do they always piss me off!

  99. not sure i could consider rap hip/hop as “artists” so i think we r missing a lot of real songwriting artists, which is the only reason dylan is on the list! bc he cant sing… but where’s willie? creedence? madonna is deserving, but why not Cher? live? <—great artists.. george strait and conway had more #1's than anyone on the list except for what should be #'s 1&2, elvis and beatles… pearl jam but not alice in chains…. talking heads.. who is this? lol michael jackson #2? crap… maybe a top ten, maybe… metallica should b further up the list… nirvana they got close. but why dont we have jazz/blues? stevie ray? bb? someone!!! simon & frickin garfunkel…. DEAD?!!! where r they? clapton only as cream? that was 2 years of his career… shit… bluegrass??? them r artists!!

  100. Bruce Springsteen on # 21.
    What a drag!!!

He made an anthem in “Born In The USA”
    He improvised “Thunder Road”
    He coined “Born To Run”

For Rock-music sake, put him ahead of Bob Marley atleast….
