Since breaking out in ’07, Lykke really hasn’t stayed off our radar for long, all on the back of the steady burn of her debut LP Youth Novels. And the victory lap continues. Ms. Li’s cutting a sizable swath through North America this month, having kicked off the tour with shows in Philly and at Washington D.C.’s Sixth & I Synagogue this past weekend. So far she’s showcasing those road-honed originals alongside that growing collection of hip hop covers (Tribe’s “Can I Kick It,” Lil Wayne’s “A Milli”), which means still no word on new material, but keep your ears out for her contributions to Röyksopp’s forthcoming, third LP Junior in the meantime. Tour dates after the jump, and click on for Synagogue shots of Lykke and fellow-Swede openers Wildbirds & Peacedrums by Francis Chung.

Ok, there´s a lot of good music coming from my country (The Knife, Jens, Jenny Wilson, The Radio Dept. etc) but Lykke Li is just a mediahype, plus; she´s really stupid…

  3. she’s really good on the kleerup album and that’s about it.

her album has two good songs (i’m good, i’m gone & breaking it up)
but those two are really, really good.

    • You’re leaving out, Dance Dance Dance, which I think is the best song on the album.
It’s a good pop album, hype or no hype. I wish pop albums in the US were half this good.

Hey! One of the five or six annoying-as-hell press photographers crowding the stage was from Stereogum!

They were obnoxiously distracting, and I was glad the ushers chased them off two songs into the opening act.
