Fiona Apple PR 2005

Fiona Apple hasn’t had an LP since 2005′s Extraordinary Machine, a release with so many delays that it doesn’t seem that strange that it’s taken five years for her to produce a followup. According to a profile of Apple’s drummer and co-producer Charley Drayton in Modern Drummer magazine), the new album will be out spring 2011, but it doesn’t have a title or exact release date yet. Some new pictures of Apple may even been on her official website by then. Earlier this year we heard her Jon Brion-produced “So Sleepy” for the 826LA compilation.

  1. Big ups to the blog TwentyFourBit, who first spotted the Modern Drummer article and are generally really awesome at breaking interesting music stories.

It’s really hard to believe Billboard’s editorial assistant was sitting around reading Modern Drummer, you know? Given the timing of the posts and all. Anyway, great news!

  2. Rock! Given how she was talking about the last album, I wasn’t sure there was ever going to be another one.

  3. yessss….but I must say, I am of the camp that feels the unofficial Jon Brion-produced Extraordinary Machine was superior to the official, Mike-Elizondo produced release
