You can probably name ten tracks off the top of your head more annoying than those WNBC.com‘s readers voted as those they find most aggravating (what’s with all the TV themes?), but hey, an obnoxious tune is an obnoxious tune. So, here’s the perfect playlist to get under the NBC faithful’s skin:

22. “Jump” – Kris Kross
21. “It’s A Sunshine Day” – The Brady Bunch
20. “Thank God I’m A Country Boy” – John Denver”
19. The Theme From Good Times
18. “Wannabe” – The Spice Girls
17. “Play That Funky Music” – Wild Cherry
16. “Mmm Bop” – Hanson
15. “Muskrat Love” – The Captain & Tennille
14. The Theme From I Dream Of Jeannie
13. “Mambo No. 5″ – Lou Bega
12. “Hot In Herre” – Nelly
11. “Y.M.C.A.” – The Village People

10. The Theme From Scooby Doo
09. “Macarena” – Los Del Río
08. “Copacabana” – Barry Manilow
07. “The Chicken Dance” – Werner Thomas
06. “Achy Breaky Heart” – Billy Ray Cyrus
05. “Who Let The Dogs Out” – Baha Men
04. The Meow Mix Jingle
03. “Mr. Roboto” – Styx
02. “I Love You, You Love Me” – Barney & Friends
01. “It’s A Small World After All” – Robert and Richard Sherman

As lame as much of this list is, if you’ve ever been on the It’s A Small World ride … you know. Robert Sherman had this to say about his infinitely looping opus (via Wiki):

Like many songs, “It’s a Small World” has a verse and a chorus. One thing which makes this song particularly ‘catchy’ is that the verse and chorus work in counterpoint to each other. This means that you can play the same chords over and over again, but with different melodies. The repetitive, yet varied pattern tricks your mind into absorbing the work without it becoming tiresome to your ear.

Time proved you wrong on that last bit, Bob. Songwriters, now you know how best to please two-year-olds and annoy just about everybody else. More grating tracks? Post ‘em if you got ‘em.

alright i agree with all the songs. But how is Ashley Simpson not on there? That boyfriend song ahh rip out my hair now please. Or Thnxs 4 th memrys or however fall out boy spells it, blah and last and certainly worst ANYTHING by miley cyrus. she inherited her shitty music from dad i think. i’m 18 and was horrified that her songs were aimed towards my generation and younger.

also is it really wise to encourage children like miley cyrus or hannah montana whatever that have split personality disorder to not take their medication?
