The other day, Interpol posted a lovely scene of snow-capped peaks and the date 7.10.07 on their site, and the web surmised this corresponds to the forthcoming record’s release date. That’s fair, though we’re waiting to hear a good explanation for the accompanying pic. (Carlos D’s vacay Flickr maybe?)

And today, Jeremy informs us of the record’s tracklist. For the fanatics:

[Redacted per Impose Magazine's request]

We don’t have anything on the record’s title, so you can expect another round of web posts when that last bit leaks (buzz bands, take note). If ya missed it, head here for live clips of “Pioneer To The Falls” and “The Heinrich Maneuver.” Despite the wholesome goodness of the above postcard pic, their antics are much the same as you last remember.

UPDATE: A day later, Interpol confirms what we posted yesterday. Not sure why Impose Mag needed the tracklist taken down, but for those that are curious, knock yourselves out! Oh, and the record’s got a name now: Our Love To Admire. Sweet.

01 “Pioneer To The Falls”
02 “No I In Threesome”
03 “The Scale”
04 “The Heinrich Maneuver”
05 “Mammoth”
06 “Pace Is The Trick”
07 “All Fired Up”
08 “Rest My Chemistry”
09 “Who Do You Think”
10 “Wrecking Ball”
11 “The Lighthouse”

Enjoy.

  1. If the album is self-titled, I predict a 75% chance of sever suckage.

I remember a fake leaked out called ‘Mammoth’ I thought it was a cool title at the time.

Maybe then they can tour with Mastodon as the Ice Age Tour.

saw them a couple days ago here in ontario. they were tight, and the new stuff is pretty much in keeping with ‘antics’. i seem to recall the new songs – none of which i had heard before – as sounding a little more… hopeful, for lack of a better word. there were some modulations to major keys (from initially minor) at the end of a couple new songs. i had already had a few drinks before the show started though…

  4. “If the album is self-titled, I predict a 75% chance of sever suckage.”

Why does a self titled imply suckage?

  5. Because they’re stuck making the same songs they’ve always made. “The Lighthouse” is the only succinct departure and it’s tacked on the end because there’s no place for it on the album… Otherwise I couldn’t discern anything too exciting/new, though I agree with the major modulations. Also, more experiments with dissonance and synths + piano make the whole thing a little denser, but these are differences for obsessives…

The same songs they’ve always made might well be exactly what people want, as long as there’s enough subtle progression to give this one a slightly different taste.. Plenty of bands have made a career out of variations on a theme as opposed to complete reinvention every time.. Low is a good example. I’m more interested in whether the songwriting is up with the level of their debut (a lot of Antics was a bit of a let down for me)..

Yes, because we all know how terrible The Beatles’ self-titled album was. Oh, and Weezer first self-titled album? Awful. Yeah. That makes perfect sense.

Why does everyone rag on Interpol for sounding the same from album to album? You better not be the same people who listen to acoustic guitar albums.

Well, that sure is a lot of snow…

  12. Impose pulled the story; link now leads to a contest entry.

  17. paulbanksisgod  |   Posted on Apr 24th, 2007

Broaden your horizons and listen to…arcade fire?! How are they any more inventive than Interpol?

I would love to see Paul Banks kick Win Butler’s ass.

  18. Yeah, is this even confimed?

  19. arcade token  |   Posted on Apr 25th, 2007

That’s funny. I was starting to worry that someone wasn’t going to mention arcade fire in this thread.

    There’s a drinking game in this somewhere…

I really fucking hope that isn’t the actual Album cover. I love those boys, and it hurts my soul to hear you all speak ill of them.

Ethan you sound bitter, how has interpol let you down?
