Diehard fans will claim he never went away, but to those of us who didn’t weep or throw flowers when we saw him live, it seems like Mr. Morrissey is in the midst of a renaissance. “Shame Is The Name” is the B-side for “I’m Throwing My Arms Around Paris,” the more than respectable Years Of Refusal‘s first single and one of its best songs. Another seemingly ageless icon Chrissie Hynde (of the Pretenders, kids), joins Moz to let us know “shame makes the world go ’round.” Of course, Morrissey has no shame, which is why he’s cool with stripping down and putting a 7″ on his something inch for the inner sleeve of this very single, but still.
If you want more Moz, take a listen to his BBC2 session.
Years Of Refusal is out 2/17 on Attack/Lost Highway.

I like it.
Shame IS the name. A+ for Morissey and a gold star for music in general. Also this song is a PWN anthem. Love it!
good track, not a fan of the back up vocals though.
I have never been able to like Morrissey despite being told I’m supposed to. And Chrissie Hynde whom I love is criminally underused here.
Who says you have to like him? Like whatever you like. I like him (sometimes), but I frankly don’t care who else does or doesn’t
Jason Tate says it’s required.
Yeah. I don’t like this song that much.
It’s just decent.
“it seems like Mr. Morrissey is in the midst of a renaissance”
you guys said this after his last two records also. nobody can accuse you guys of underhyping ever, huh
sounds a bit like linkin park
“Is this all you was born for”
Grammar is the shame!
Also this song is way too preachy. Clearly shame doesn’t make the world go ’round! Greedy power-hungry assholes do!
Uh, its a B-Side for a reason, not his best track.
But the new album Years of Refusal is quite good. Its out today.
who is tina l’esprit?
