The subject of this post will make almost no sense to anyone over forty. Anyhoo, the kids at Connected Ventures (College Humor, Defunker, Busted Tees, Vimeo) posted this clip earlier this month and no surprise, it’s a big hit on Vimeo. Only one criticism, guys: Did you have to rub it in? We know we will never have that much fun at work in our entire lives. (via)
Nice shirt, Zach!

So hot… want to touch hiney.
get over yourselves. esp you larry. you’re creepy.
This video is an awesome depiction of the Aryan Utopia. I hardily approve!
I loved this.
I especially loved the guy wearing the SILF shirt. Oh, and of course the song and the overall positive attitude of these people! I wish I knew them all.
White people. White people. White people.
In my defense, I shall quote Homer Simpson in episode AABF16 of “The Simpsons” (see page I link to in my name):
He says what we’re all thinking!
OMG, I can’t believe all the grouches out there – wow – lighten up huh ?
A group of college-aged kids organized to have some honest and clean fun with a song. I totally enjoyed the wonderful display of youth, joy, energy and creativity that harkens me back quite a few years from my present 41, and yes, I smiled through the whole video. What I would not give to be back there again …….
I don’t give a rat’s posterior whether these kids knew the song when it came out, it really doesn’t matter. To those bloggers who did – you do not have exclusive rights to the song. The display of the beauty and joy of youth is enough for me – there are way too few moments like this, so your best course is to simply enjoy it and stop complaining.
If you can’t enjoy this video, or at least crack a smile, there’s likely a load of pain, anger and/or sadness you really need to consider shedding. To the young grouches, you need to thing about who the saying ‘Youth is wasted on the young’ was created for. PLEASE try to enjoy your fleeting youth while it lasts.

Sorry to go on, but I must – its not as much the video as some of the comments I see that are a bit concerning.
Just look at the News these days and it takes no imagination to figure out that more than enough fear, hate, stress and unfortunate events exist to feed an entire generation of depressed youth.
Please don’t let this happen kids. Instead, consider some clean unbridled fun and, yes, perhaps a silly display once in a while. Throw the pressure off for a while and rejoice in the pure joy of youth. Forget what others think for a minute.
Parents, nurture, protect and enjoy the youth and happiness of your children – and don’t forget to smile.

remember when one of the dudes who worked there (he’s in that vid) posted that blog of his baby jonas and he was wicked cute and people started visiting his blog from all over the place, and then he got all freaked out and made it password protected because he thought it was creepy that people he didn’t know where visiting his blog about his baby, and then everyone laughed at him for being a jackass because duhhh, you made a public blog.
good times.
and i second that, that girl is super cute and being a lesbian just furthers my fantasies.
maybe she’ll get so creeped out by that comment, she and baby blog guy can go fuel their neurosis collectively.
I like the “white people white people white people” comment.
that is all.
I have been at Connected Ventures since the year 2000. I have probably interviewed 30 potential employees for my division. Not one of them was black.
Shocking!
I love the SILF shirt. It is a thing of beauty and a joy forever.
This is quite amazing.
I tough Stereogum readers where both nicer, more laid back people, and ultimatelly.. younger.
I mean, Jesus, the level of bitterness in these comments, of judging, who is cool and who isnt, the 80′s, the 90′s, they are not original, did they even knew that song back then?? WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE????? I used to think that the stereotipical hipster was just some trite cliche, but its obviously alive in some of you.
Im 24, loved the video, Envy everyone in it. Couldnt think of anyone who wouldnt love to work in that enviroment, that is, until today.
Wow, bitter much?
I’m 40, had never until today even *heard* of Harvey Danger, and I thought this video was super fun to watch. The energy of it reminds me of some of the better places I’ve worked.
Oh, and thanks to this video I’m buying some of the band’s music.
I can’t believe how riled up people are getting about this. Cute vid, cute boys, catchy tune. Yay.
cute boys INDEED!
hi rob, can we be friends? i like your style.
I find the video pretty annoying, although I think the song’s okay. But I find the video annoying because, like a lot of the people here, I don’t like having privledged pretty white kids’ super fun jobs and lives rubbed in my face all the time, which is exactly what happens when you’re “in indie rock”. I think it annoys a lot of people that the core of indie celebrity comes from such a narrow demographic, and since we don’t talk about it in public, it comes out in the form of bitter comments. I’m not even that old. That could have been me five years ago, had I had a real job. And none of this is really very important, so it’s probably not worth fighting over.
I still have to say, the 90s BLEW. And I went to high school in them.
Wow, not one non-white person works there?
Personally, it’s videos like these that keep things light in fun in a time when people are going crazy with the hatred and hypocrisy everywhere. I don’t understand the bitterness and jealousy many people are showing here…it’s supposed to be light fun, and maybe you could enjoy it as well, but you don’t have to if you don’t want to — no one is forcing it on you. Yes, they are all young, just out of college kids working there, but would it make sense for someone 10 to 20 years out of college to work at a place called College Humor? They all work at a place that is a dream job for right out college, and can live and see their work being displayed in their immediate surroundings and lives — we should all be so lucky. I am not too far off the age of these people, and work in an industry where we SHOULD be having fun like this, but my company can’t even get people to go out to lunch together.
Maybe some of the bitter people should stop and think about this — if these people at CV/College Humor have fun and have pride at their first careers, they may be on to a future of a better and happier life in the future because they had fun at the age when they should be having fun, and not end up bitter and jaded like you when they are only 30 years old.
Mmmm, that first beotch is hot. I’d lick her sphincter till the cows come home
i’ve watched this video about fifty times now. it’s almost like having real friends. ha. heh heh, remember that time, that time when we all jumped around the table tennis tables and totally rocked out. heh heh, that was so great. i have great hair. harvey danger are great. heh heh, guys, i love you guys. good times. i’m gonna watch it again.
You guys are way too hip for your own good.
to get that many people to do something together (and do a good job) is great. I enjoyed it. I enjoy seeing people having fun. You see way too many videos of catching people doing something dangerous and/or cruel. This was a nice change.
Well, I’m 50 and enjoyed it! What’s the beef? This was fun and well done – entertaining and the sync job was better than Milli Vanilli. To the nay-sayers over 40 (the “My Generation” crowd)..don’t we wish that our work place was this much fun? Message is clear – Life is short, enjoy every moment, live it every day. My hat’s off and kudo’s to you who made this video. Damn- Makes me want to find a job thats more fun….
I LOVE IT!
Where are all the black, Indian, Asian folk? Yeah I don’t approve of the Aryan Utopia either. You know the work place is now filled with people from India now-a-days. Once the corporate croons and investors see this video they will most likely be replacing these people with people from India @ a whooping .50 cents an hour.
SILF!
At first I thought that was Google. I heard that workplace is a lot of fun.
Does there HAVE to be a non-white in every video ever, or what? I’m sure it wasn’t as if they told all non-whites to leave so they could film this video. Jesus effin’ christ. Let’s make even our random-assed lip-syncing videos politically correct!
M: The issue isn’t so much that there aren’t any non-whites in the video, but that this workplace is lily-white, as can be reasonably inferred from the video.
People having fun! What is wrong with that? It has nothing to do with race, song, fashion or anything else. Just FUN. Live on guys. Live on. Made me smile.
OMG! that is so f-ing funny!
i love that song, and i agree, we will never ever EVER have that much fun at work. and there were some very hot people in that video…ahahaha
First thought, I wish I could still have that kind of fun at work. Second thought, I’ll never be that young again. Anyone who finds this pointless is probably working as a janitor for the dept. of mental health in san bernardino county.
I liked it alot. Very entertaining.
just brilliant! love it, love it, love it
I’m 19 and in college and it took me two times of watching this video before I got it. Although I really loved the amputee sung part. That guy was great. ^_^
Wonderful wholesome white youths having fun without smoking LSD. This is what all worksites should look like!
There are over 50,000 people in my city. If we made a workplace video, we’d be accused of being racist for not including any black people, because there are about 5 of them in the whole city.
I’m tried of everyone trying to force their values and agenda on everyone else. Seriously, this video is about coming together to have fun. The people involved did a great job lip-synching to a song that many people have forgotten about. I’m sure it was funnier to them than it was to most of us, but I enjoyed the video and I would like to work at a place like that.
People these days are too caught up in being serious and worrying about how politically correct they are or aren’t, what’s fair and all that stuff. This video reminds me of the early 90s, when you could be who you wanted to be and have a really good time and people would judge you but you didn’t care because they usually couldn’t sue you and everyone was just enjoying life.
lmfao i am in love with the girl at the beginning.
No entertainment value. Just a bunch of whiny jobless weirdos.
Lemme guess the best thing on any of these peoples resume would be “I was a protester at _____”
No thanks. I’ll pass. :^)
“I’m tried of everyone trying to force their values and agenda on everyone else.”
Just as the slave states were fed up with the preaching of the free states.
Zillions of years over 40 and it made perfect sense. They let us play with radios and T.V.s and the Internet here at the old folks home and we sorta keep up kinda. Gotta go….we’re lip synching to Al Jolson later today. 23 Skiddoo!
So where do I send in my resume??
That was a cool video.. I fell in love with the girl from the beginning big time.
What a bunch of haters. I love the spirit of this. Who really cares what the meaning is? It looks like so much fun and is so uplifting I’ve been playing it every morning before I start my day for the last week and a half. And the first girl? Yeah, pretty damn hot.
First, let me say that the “This is what happens when a black guy leaves the room.” comment is far better than this video. It’s also a great observation on what type of humor, College Humor serves up.
Second, this is the disco style of the 00′s. In 20 years, these people might as well be wearing bell bottoms and astrological medallions. They all look like they tried so hard to be trendy and individual that they all look the same. It’s the “I bought his look at the Gap” look. Whatever happened to economical trendiness?
Third, if the gay guy in the suit is the boss, then it probably explains why all the guys look the way they do.
Fourth, I am not bitter or jealous. I had to deal with people like this in college, and its sad how gut wrenchingly annoying they are.
it’s videos like this that give american comedy a bad wrap. that, and dane cook of course.
