They were the musical guests on a 1992 episode of Saturday Night Live (Jason Priestly hosting), so it’s far from their first time on NBC late night. Here’s the band performing “Baby Lee” for Fallon (and guest Christopher Meloni):

  1. Teenage Fanclub! They made all my dreams come true at Bowery Ballroom, and I had to fight the urge to drop to my knees after every song and thank god and Big Star for bringing those perfect harmonies across the mighty Atlantic. O ye saints of pop majesty, I hope your melodies stay as evergreen as they have so far.

    • They have that power, of creating fanboys out of plain likers, or even non-fans. They sure as hell did that to me in 2003, back in São Paulo, and then Curitiba.

They’re not only incredibly talented artists who aren’t afraid to let their music grow and mature with their own aging, but also kickass guys who have zero ego problems – after the show they came out of the backstage and hung out with the starved Brazilian fans for the next hour or so, giving out autographs and just chit-chatting.

I can’t wait to see them again at Lincoln Hall, here in Chicago. Best birthday present ever.
