Coney Island wallows in its state of decay, but once again the Village Voice brings its bass-heavy soundsystem and novice soundmen to the boardwalk for Siren Fest this summer, set for July 21st. The Voice announced this partial lineup earlier today:
NEW YORK DOLLS
WE ARE SCIENTISTS
MATT AND KIM
THE BLACK LIPS
DR. DOG
NOISETTES
LAVENDER DIAMOND
THE DETROIT COBRAS
ELVIS PERKINS
THE TWILIGHT SAD
You guys know how much we love the Twilight Sad, but if you’ve never heard ‘em before, please don’t judge them by their Siren set; that system will make them sound like muddled shit. Somehow, though, like every year, it’ll be one of the summer’s best days. We’ll get ya the full lineup when it’s out. For now, dream of Nathan’s franks.

We Are Scientists put on an awesome live set. Definitely worth the watch.
You’re apologizing for the Twilight Sad’s disappointing set 2 months in advance? Mighty thoughtful of you!

Not as appealing of a roster as previous sirens.
Saw Elvis Perkins support Willy Mason last night at Shepherds Bush Empire. He was pretty entertaining once he got warmed up. He has a nice band. One guy plays Harmonium. It’s got to be a winner!
i love that someone mentioned tapes n tapes and the stills in the same post.
hey guys.. remember those bands? lol.
The Noisettes are terrible…they should go tour with Nickelback or something…and stop taking their money and get that banner for them down.
Funny, Twilight Sad is the only band in that set that would really motivate me to go. Otherwise, meh.
We Are Scientists is really the only band I’d want to see…but then again, I’d drop anything to see them live, especially if they’re closing out the night.
