Guardian reports that, arrears be damned, MJ’s partnership company Sony/ATV purchased the publishing entity Famous Music for $370 million from Viacom via auction yesterday. (Imagine that auctioneer: “SOLD to the ma…woma…person raising the gloved hand.”)
So to the Beatles, add Björk, Beck, and other artists that don’t fit this alliterative scheme to Michael’s personal stash of song rights. Experts say the most valuable catalogue controlled by Famouse Music is that of Marshall Mathers. A Sony/ATV exec says Famous Music is a “world-class asset filled with evergreen songs that people know and love,” but we wouldn’t put it past the Freak Of Pop to orchestrate this whole thing just to own Slim after this bit of hair-flaming fun.

I don?t get Michael Jackson. I mean, here is a man who aspires to a level of weirdness that makes everyone on Earth uncomfortable, but does nothing to change his image, refuses to stop complaining about how everyone else makes fun of him, or above all else – stop being a pedophile! Now, his extravagant tastes have caught up with him and he can?t even pay the zookeeper who feeds the monkeys at Neverland; yet he somehow has the time, energy and cash-flow to invest in undermining Eminem!
This only pisses me off because I?d hate to see other artists who?ve done nothing to Jackson, wake up to find their music used to sell shoes. It?s just wrong, but Michael Jackson?s greed and vanity will catch up with him one day – mark my words!

I’m not 100% sure about this, but I’m pretty sure that Michael Jackson sold off the rights to the Beatles songs in the late 90s, when he was hard up for money.
I seem to remember that he sold them off for, like, $90 million. I thought that was a) a lot of money, and b) weird for him to have them in the first place.

To Stu: Michael never sold ATV Music Publishing Corp (which he purchased in 1984) – he merged it with Sony Music Publishing Corp in 1995 in return for $90 million cash, creating Sony/ATV Music Publishing Corp. So it’s a 50/50 deal. The company is now worth over $1 billion.

Eminem is a low-life artist. His career will never ever be sucessful and I do not mean that in comparison to Michael Jackson because he is way below Mj’s league. Yes, there may be some people who will patronize his trashy raps but hey, at the end of the day he is a lonely, nasty and troubled person. It will fall back to him in multifolds. He can’t put down a good man even decades/generations/centuries after his death. He’s such a pity is what I see him.
