No being lighthearted about Sudan, and it’s nice to have a moment to give it some attention. For their contribution to the international version of the Instant Karma – Save Darfur project, Denmark’s Raveonettes cover “One Day (At A Time),” from Lennon’s relatively introspective ’73 release Mind Games. So, unlike Green Day’s clip, there’s no Sudanese testimonials — just some pensive folks in a diner, a singing waitress, and a trippy tank gun. But the black-and-white theme is consistent with Green Day’s take, and fitting of the project’s moralistic cause. A nice pause for thought.

The US version of Instant Karma is out 6/12. Back to making fun of Marilyn Manson momentarily.
