Over the summer of ’07, the Pains Of Being Pure At Heart landed themselves a BTW stamp on the back of just a 15-minute debut EP; forward a year-and-a-half and the band’s being tapped by the likes of MySpace to support Deerhunter in the website’s latest “Secret Show” installment, further cementing a certain status in the indie orbit for the Pains’ infectious fuzz-pop and exquisitely manicured reference points. The buzzy Buzzfeed-ers were just an opening act though; eyes as always were widest for Bradford and Lockett (he of the sublime Lotus Plaza solo LP) and the rest. Antics were at a minimum, but the show was typically intense: At the outset Cox dedicated the night to “a friend” who he just lost to a heart attack. “This music is for him tonight,” he said. RIP, Randall Bewley. Here’s the night in pictures by Julie Remensperger.

Beautiful shots, but don’t you mean /09?
You are right, I did mean it happened this year. Fixed, thanks yo.
God, I wish they were playing Coachella.
hmmm, San Fransico?
Randall Bewley was a cool guy, one of the coolest. There are just some people who always strike you as being perfectly real. He was one of them. He helped make Pylon a good band and helped the people around him even more. Thanks Bradford for the call out – Randall deserves that one. Take care.
Deerhunter played 4 new songs last night, apparently – another new release on the way from them this year maybe?
Bradford is a huge Pylon fan, he even had a piece on their blog a few months back where he interviewed them. Pity about that guitar player, too young to go.
this guy got mad pics from the night before at the mezzanine. click that link there and go to his page.
