With no consensus pick emerging from our call for your top summer jamz, YACHT steps up to the plate with an unsubtly-titled track aiming for your poolside playlists. Says Jona:

I heard someone saying that there wasn’t a definitive summer banger for 2007, and this saddened me deeply. I’m not sure if this is even remotely true, but just the fact that someone felt like this summer is without its own anthem left me feeling like I could at least give it a shot.

My shot is a love letter to LCD Soundsystem, my new friends and tourmates from the very beginning of the summer. They added me to their top 8, so in turn I made this song for them, and for you, Summer…and for you, dear reader.

Check it…

YACHT (Feat. Claire L. Evans) – “The Summer Song” (MP3)

Bechtolt’s track is a sweaty, cowbell/sloppy-bass DFA tribute for sure. But it’s more Sparks than daiquiris, and last time someone mentioned Immaculate Machine’s “Dear Confessor” (which you know we love) as a possibility — so take this as a sunny day pairing to YACHT’s afterparty starter.

Bring on the beach ball.

YACHT HAS TO GO!!! THIS GUY IS POSSIBLY THE SINGLE WORST CONCERT EXPERIENCE I’VE EVER HAD! I saw him open for LCD @ Studio B in May and it was sooooo awful i wanted to throw things at him. It was quite possibly the best example of hipster irony i’ve ever seen. He was trying SOOOO hard to be the ultimate hipster but the whole crowd (like me) thought he was pathetic, lame, and a joke. With all the great music out there lately, why someone would support this is BEYOND me! I see 3+ shows a week and this really was so bad it hurt…

i dont get yacht either. i know its not my style, but frankly i dont see how it could be anyone’s style.

  3. that was harsh… why waste your time to even post that? i’m sure the dude got to where he is by having some people like him. i do. maybe you should keep an eye out on your karma meter, because it seems like it looks like it’s dangerously close to “fucking asshole who’s going to make out with that atlanta TB dude.”

  4. I think you’re both right. I saw Yacht at the Knit a while ago and it was horrible. The opening band, Dead Rabbit, KILLED it, so it wasn’t really fair for Yacht’s fey performance to go up against the mighty Rabbits. http://www.myspace.com/deadrabbitmusic

i liked the first 2 albums, ‘MEGA’ and ‘Super Warren MMIV’, each had their own trippy charmenth to them. then he did The Blow album which didn’t feel like a Blow album to me, but it was still ok. And his new record doesn’t seem like a YACHT record, (i mean lyrics? c’mon), but i enjoy it…. and everyone taller than me sucks live. so my answer would be: the world don’t move to the beat of just one drum, what might be right for you, may not be right for some. so basically- i need to borrow like $45 dollars from you.

  6. Yacht is a performance artist, with an emphasis on experimentation. Like him or not, he sure can dance

can you really get bad karma for writing negitive about a show? can you make up for it by writing some thing positive? mysterious world. You have to admit that YACHT gives 110%, whether you like what he gives or not, it is respectable.
