On location at Bonnaroo, Rufus Leaking the goat puppet held court with his Pancake Mountain cohorts, welcoming the likes of Wayne Coyne, Jack & Meg, Lewis Black, Tim Fite, and Franz Ferdinand to film some cute shorts for the indie kids. We were lucky enough to watch them film the Whites’ sketch (in the corner, off-cam, mouths shut, which is for the best); seeing a puppet interview Jack and Meg was one of the more surreal situations we stumbled into at the ‘Roo. Rufus interviewed ‘em and did a pretty awesome job, obviously having done his homework (“’300MPH Torrential Outpour Blues’ — so that’s, like, lots of different styles of blues mixed into one song?! 300MPH … has that been clocked?”). Jack was impressed and quickly let his guard down, laughing a lot, duetting with Rufus on an “Acapulco” version of call-and-response blues standard “John The Revelator,” and agreeing to say “Triple Inchophone” three times fast (what, you don’t have Third Man’s 3″ “Top Special” single?) Also, Meg is super cute in person. And speaks in whispers. Here they are, with a little bit of Lewis Black.

Take the jump for more puppet fun with Wayne and Lily.

One of the Franzies brought his kids who wouldn’t stop crying … that didn’t make the cut. Awww. In the Lips bit, that’s Northern State’s Hesta Prynn, in the uh, Hesta shirt.

‘meg white is cute in person’…understatement of the day. she’s a little adorable being with a pair of very nice, uh…eyes.

yeah, her eyes looked friggin MASSIVE in that second clip. I’m impressed the puppet could keep from staring at them.

And for those who care, Tim Fite is the fella in the baby blue suspenders at the beginning of the first two clips.

This guy, Paul, brings his kid everywhere. Including to his concerts. Silly man. The kid is less than 10 months old.

  11. my fay little wave there at the end of “daydream believer” is likely to earn me some kind of award for “most effeminate gesture by a music blogger in a pancake mountain video”
