We’ll be suckers for covers forever more, and especially when they’re of tunes that inspire John Hughes films. So by all means, head to Daytrotter for their session with the mighty National, who offer up two from their album-of-the-year contender Boxer and a past gem (“Lucky You”), but stay for Berninger’s baritone soaking in the Psychedelic Furs’ “Pretty In Pink.” A treat for sure, but man would it be better if they were recreating the video.

  1. I saw them cover this at the St. Louis show. The sad, albeit incredibly funny part was that apparently, many people in the audience actually believed Berninger when he introduced it as “a new song”.

  2. That is like soooo, like totally sad.

  3. I like this version except that I feel like he could have put at least a little more emphasis into the chorus. Still, not a bad cover from a good band.
