When the amorphous blob of Canadians that is Broken Social Scene last congregated, Andrew Whiteman was there as always — wearing his winter hat, helping coin the unofficial age of Liz Powell as resident BSSiren on Letterman. In the time since, he’s put the finishing touches on a followup to Apostle Of Hustle’s National Anthem Of Nowhere, one of the brightest in the constellation of BSS side projects. Andrew’s billed the collection as a “a serial poem about some struggles people go through.” Which makes lead track “Perfect Fit” its stoney first stanza, then: settle in for chirping, wooshing, and echoing atmospherics over one long groove and Andrew’s delayed megaphonics. Dank.

Wow, had absolutely no idea they had a new album coming out! So excited!!! Possibly the best BSS side band out there.. Folkloric Feel is such an underrated masterpiece.
Wow, this one slipped under the radar. I scored “The National Anthem Of Nowhere” for a buck during last year’s National Record Store Day, and they’ve become one of my favorite bands.
Hope they tour in support of it, would love to see them play live.
Wow, what a year for music
That picture is way out of date. Two of those dudes haven’t been in the band for a couple of years now.
Really like this tune … the lasers … awesome stereo panning with percussion goodies… Just really sweet. Makes me want to hit play again. Thanks for posting…
— That little picture of Billy in the most commented section … I can’t get over how it looks like he has a pipe in is mouth (mic) … like a bald billy-bo-baggins. — sorry for mentioning him in this thread.
I can not stop listening to this song and can not wait for the rest of the album, if it is anything close to this, it already made it to my top 10, total success!
I had to double check I had downloaded the right mp3! So different from his other stuff, I like it too.
I may need extra ear time for all the great music that’s coming out this year.
