It all takes place this afternoon (4PM EST) on superfurry.com. The concert’s a live rendering of the band’s forthcoming Dark Nights/Light Years. It coincides with today’s digital release of the album, i.e. you can download the album while you watch the show. The album’s out physically on 4/13. As we mentioned, Franz Ferdinand’s Nick McCarthy does guest vocals on the collection’s “Inaugral Trams,” though no word if he’ll show up to do it today. While you ponder and make yourself comfy, feast your eyes on Dark Nights‘s album art. Click it and it’ll expand. We’ve already showed you the tracklist, but so you can follow along:

01 “Crazy Naked Girls”
02 “Mt”
03 “Moped Eyes”
04 “Inaugural Trams”
05 “Inconvenience”

08 “Helium Hearts”
09 “White Socks / Flip Flops”
10 “Where Do You Wanna Go?”

In case you missed it earlier, here’s this:

Awesome. Countdown says 17 minutes to go before the show, but the cameras are already live and we can see them setting up. I’ve always admired their innovation, aside from their superb music and artwork.

Took a while, but it’s finally up and running. They just finished the first track. The site where you can buy the album appears to be overloaded, though.

This event was very cool, as is the album itself. Probably their best since Rings Around The World.

And here I thought they couldn’t out-ugly the cover art for Hey Venus!

  7. empathy for those who missed this…

  8. Total empathy… that was a great show. Nice new tunes although I wish they had picked a different company to stream that used less ads. Anyone know if the physical release for the US will be any different from the one you can order from their site now?

  9. It’s likely Super Furry Animals will never make anything less than an excellent album, but as of now, Love Kraft will remain their greatest album.

  10. They are just so brilliant. Their album art is quite wretched, but it oddly fits their sound. A rather visual representation of their melodic chaos.

OK, I’ve lived with Dark Nights/Light Years for about a week now, and I honestly think it at least matches previous highs (i.e. Radiator, for me). There is not a bad track, and the more you get to know it the better it sounds.

    Just bloody brilliant, frankly!
