For the fifth year running, the Killers are releasing a charitable Christmas song in benefit of the (RED) foundation. (Past cuts include “A Great Big Sled,” “Happy Birthday Guadalupe,” and “Don’t Shoot Me Santa.”) This one comes with a video, directed by Jared Hess, aka the man behind Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho Libre. Starbucks will donate 5ยข for every time the video is viewed via the Starbucks Share program, so even if you don’t like the Killers or Jared Hess, there is that. Watch it, unless your hatred of the Killers outweighs your desire to make the world a better place:

Is it just me, or is Brandon Flowers starting to morph into Michael Buble?
The sound quality kind of wavers at various points in the video. Weird.
Underwear for a boombox? That homeless man was ripped off.
I haven’t seen a commerical for the Mormon church in so long I didn’t even realize they were still making them…
Also, aren’t there three other guys in the band? Or is this actually a BFlo solo song disguised as a song by the band?
And for the record, I am a HUGE Killers fan, even saw Brandon perform earlier this week. But that doesn’t preclude me from recognizing that this blows. But hey, yeah for supporting charity…
Why is Ben Folds in a music video for The Killers?

This is awful. But so is AIDS. So watch the video. Turn off the sound and watch it twice. Watch it 71 times and your grande mocha latte will be a tax writeoff.
Or you can not watch it at all and do something else you enjoy, like throwing kittens at orphans, you heartless bastard.

Grateful for the laugh. And I like The Killers…much more than throwing kittens at orphans. Also, much more than this shite.
