Joanna Newsom brought her harp and two taxidermy peacocks to The Late Show last night. Before she played, Letterman joked that the set looked like “… Sarah Palin’s den” and asked Newsom if she did her own taxidermy. She laughed. Here’s her performance:

I’m so glad she escaped from the giant at the top of the beanstalk, for now I get to watch her play with my head on my hand, smiling like a fool. Oh it is so good.

I wonder if this is the first case ever where a song had to be lengthened rather than shortened for a Late Night performance. In any case, this is amazing and I love the new solo section.
The chord that ends the solo section… very choice. It works beautifully with the chord she hits to return to the song.
Obviously extremely talented, but I’m immature enough to appreciate the unintentional humour;)
