Even we had to raise an eyebrow when none-too-shy MySpace blogger (and VMA-approved recording artist, mind) Lily Allen posted “One night with [Courtney] made me realise why Kurt (Cobain) killed himself.? Turns out those weren’t Lily luv’s words at all! Nope — it was a MySpace hacker. Or at least that’s Ms. Allen’s story, and it’s good enough for Courtney. Linda Perry’s best friend went public with her position on the suicide slam in a place where she knew Lily hung out…
So, off we go to C. Love’s MySpace. What, you thought we meant LDN? (via NME):
Thanks to Lily Allen for her lovely apologising for having had her MySpace broken into.I wouldn’t pick on me if I was Miss Lily, as it wouldn’t take TOO much to swat, but we’ve known each other far too long, like each other far too much and if she was gonna say something nasty she has the acerbic wit and intelligence to say something cutting, that would actually really hurt, not some cliched hoary old chestnut some obsessed blogger would say.
She tells me her MySpace was broken into – even if I REALLY think she did blog it mindlessly some 8am after being up far too long for a young healthy woman I don’t care and I appreciate and accept her thoughtfulness for apologising for what was printed, if she is telling the truth and it really doesn’t much matter – everyone slams everyone early in their careers, (Sonic Youth)’s Kim Gordon still slams me, I mean how much more boring can you get? (than Kim Gordon – slam!) Does anyone care?
Too late to warn you that you’ll have to deal with the autoplay of the terrible “Dirty Girls” by going to Courtney’s MySpace? Sorry! Anyway, Courtney actually managed to make a coherent point with her latest blog post: Lily’s alleged Cobain quip was lacking the usual cheek and humour we’ve come to know and quote. But can you really blame us for assuming it was a post of Lily’s authorship? It was on Allen’s MySpace after all. And she spelled “realise” like a Brit. We didn’t stand a chance. Meanwhile, Lily supposedly didn’t have a visa to be in the USA as of this afternoon, but a live interview with MTV VJ Tim Kash during the VMA announcement on TRL proved that to be a truckload of crap. (Billboard also calls bullshit.) So, good news! There’s hope yet for Lily to be on hand in Vegas when the VMA for Best New Artist goes to Gym Class Heroes.

I have no love for Courtney, but Cobain was an overrated addict loser who shot himself in the head. He doesn’t deserve all the hero worship, and the sooner people get over him, the better.
