Beautiful! Can’t wait for the album. It’s been too long!
Beautiful song, but I have to subtract points for the rhyming of “self” with “shelf”.
Why does that matter?
was slightly worried when i heard the first couple of introspective lines but it pulls through. good song.
I’m not really a huge fan. I’m still incredibly excited for this album though.
Great song. Also love the album artwork.
Yeah, that first verse feels Conor Oberst in his underpants.
But they bring it together rull good. Nice song. Damn solid.
Big thumbs up to this song and the artwork. I am incredibly excited for this new album.
Production is top-notch as I thought it would be. So excited for this!!
Lacks the ‘arcane’ feel of their earlier material. Modern sounding attempt at a pop song.
You’re right. Weird that folks are so quick to thumbs_down you for it.
That ‘arcane’ feel is what distinguishes them from My Morning Jacket.
I know hyperbole is the most common device used in internet posts, but that is an odd comparison to make.
Anyway, I enjoy this one and I am looking forward to May. Winter 2011 has had two excellent releases already (Smith Westerns, Destroyer) and spring is looking to be amazing, too (Panda Bear, Fleet Foxes).
HOLY SHIT.
A roaring success. Makes me regret listening to so much noise.
Sounds like springtime.
YES
This came as a pleasant surprise.
Of course their sound is a bit more evolved, but I believe it’s still great. I agree about the beginning though. It doesn’t leave anything to be desired, but it quickly changes gears.
Utter anticipation until May 3rd!!
Wow somebody went downvote happy.
Sounds exactly like Fleet Foxes to me, which is a very good thing.
Not too crazy about it, but having heard live versions of some new stuff, I know this album will be amazing.
Ugh I love how the tour dates just skip over the entire midwest yet play 4 shows within the same area of the NE coast.
Recent facebook post stated that this was just the first leg of the tour, and they are planning to hit SO many more cities, so don’t worry.
Wow $50 for tickets after service fees. I like FF a lot, but it’s hard to justify that
shit, really? that will probably keep me from going.
at least in LA it is
it definitley has a simon and garfunkel “america” vibe to it….and i mean that in the most complimentary way possible.
wow. what a gorgeous song. i’ll admit the opening lyrics had me a bit worried… but man, this thing just takes off.
so excited after hearing this. love the artwork!
Lyrics are frightening me. Let’s hope it’s just the one they are releasing early for the masses, and the album goes back to how things were, meadowlarks and such.
This is the only song like this on the album lyrically. Just tryin’ something new. I’ll hopefully improve.
Oh and I’d also find an entire album of this kind of thing tiring and overdone.
Love the song. The lyrics are sublime. The only way you can improve is to come to Salt Lake for a show ;)
Robin don’t you DARE change a thing about this song, and don’t you dare apologize. Thank you for this. I am a from Pittsburgh and this just parted a few of the clouds hanging over my head today :)
For me, the artwork and sound just scream THIS WOULD BE AWESOME ON VINYL! And I’m sure it will be!!
crying
oh, jesus christ.
A more storytelling, more lyrical, more woodstock”ing”- sound. Can’t wait for the LP. In Europe we won’t wait that long, the realease is scheduled on the 29th of april ;)
Pretty enough, but I don’t think it has really any ‘wow’ factor. His voice is just a great voice and can make almost anything sound amazing. The lyrics border on postal service freckles are constellations territory. Interested to hear more but not excited.
