Packed with more mirrors than a canceled Britney/Criss Angel collaboration, Interpol’s video for “No I In Threesome”‘s a plaster crashing voyage into some old bearded taxidermist Santa guy’s chilly abode. (Yup, that’s just what we think about when “threesome” pops up in conversation.) Actually, the melancholic decor’s dead-on (candelabra, dark woodwork, Carlo looking more and more like a Priest), but if you’re singing about threesomes, might want to rethink the burning wood ‘n’ bush. Ick. Fittingly, you can multi-task while you watch it over at Amazon .

Speaking of Amazon: Looks like the their MP3 store’s going to launch one of these days, though we can’t find the exact date of the grand opening (was supposed to be today, then tomorrow…). Anyone got the 411?

Saw the show Friday night – They were on their game – great sound, great lights, enthusiastic crowd….all well from my main floor perspective.
I was @ MSG too on Friday and from my perspective in the 300′s, I occur. My biggest complaint about their live show has always been Paul’s vocals and their guitars – too clean, too precise. MSG’s natural echo took care of that, plus it made Carlos’ bass sound like a subwoofer in a car while rollin’ through the ‘hood. Nice. Didn’t sell-out though – far from it. The 300′s, where I was, were almost empty. They’ll probably play at The “Wamu” Theater in MSG next time.
Oh yeah, the video ……. has that one-take feeling just like The Heinrich Maneuver and Paul’s beginning to look more like David Bowie.
The MSG show was incredible. I’ve been only listening to Interpol since. It was my first time seeing them live, and I’m glad. I’ve heard that their previous NYC shows were forgetable.
The show was amazing. They sounded fantastic, the crowd was way into it and the arena was pretty packed.
i’m not sure what you guys are on. that show was awful. cat power sounded terrible, the sound overall was poor, and interpol literally put me to sleep several time. i went to see liars and only caught the 2nd half of their closing song.
i’m done with interpol, forever.
After seeing their show on Friday night, I left thinking one thing — whatever they used to have, they don’t have anymore.
And as for the arena being packed, um, not so much. Saw the arena from suite-level and there were gazillions of empty seats (and empty suites). I would estimate that they sold 60% of the venue’s capacity (and that’s not counting the fact that no one sat parallel with or behind the stage).
How is it that this show has received amazing reviews and terrible ones? Were people at the same show? Maybe it depended on where you were at.. I can’t imagine it being as fun up in the 300s or so but down on the floor it was extremely fun.
Cat Power was good but not suited for msg or an Interpol show. Liars were pretty annoying.. and I like Liars too.
I’m not surprised that it didn’t sell out. If you’re saying roughly half of the theatre, that’s still thousands of people, and I’m happy for them to be playing for those people. A lot of bigger bands haven’t sold the place out either and Interpol isn’t a household name.
I absolutely love this video, especially considering what a head-scratcher “The Heinrich Maneuver” was and how boring the live “Mammoth” video was. I’m very pleased to see them in another mv, I didn’t think it would happen. It’s very melancholy and the visuals suit the song well despite the obvious clash of themes, which makes it kindof amusing as well.
there’s no I in threesome- but there is a ME!
I saw Interpol last night in Miami, Fl. The show (when it actually started) was great. They do not deviate from the songs…the same on the cd is what you hear. Paul smiled and talked to the crowd, I guess making up for being almost 2 hours late!! Daniel really worked the crowd with his showmanship. Carlos smoked cigs and swung his bass guitar. Sam was cool and laid back. During “Hands Away”, he was smoking and playing. Funny actually. The opening act sucked horribly, but for the most part, the show was great.
Nice video… again like C’mere brings up images of trees losing their leaves, old man winter, forest, fires, deer… very stylish! I do wonder about the “No I in Threesome” part too – mirrors?
Me, I was quite satisfied with the msg show.
The sections that were sold, were also packed with dedicated fans. Of course there are those that do not know why they came to see this band and consequently not enjoyed the New York sound that has become Interpol. For those who knew what to expect seemed to get a lot more than they had hoped for. Imagine headlining one of the largest arenas in NYC for the first time, you’d turn it up too, surely they’ll get a much better hang of it next time
…there’s my two cents
