Intimacy Remixed, a track-for-track reinterpretation of Bloc Party’s last LP, includes contributions from Armand Van Helden and No Age. While Brits can buy it 5/11 no worldwide release date has been set, so you might as well remix the songs yourself. Alternatively, you can see Bloc Party in the flesh since they’re on the road pretty much all year. Photographer Andrew Youssef took in last night’s Hollywood gig, where Portland indie rockers Menomena warmed up the crowd at the decidedly un-rock ‘n’ roll time of 7:50. (Hope to have a Progress Report with those guys soon; the “heavy lifting” on their Friend And Foe followup happens next month.) As for the main event, Bloc Party’s light show was “freaking amazing,” Andrew tells us, and there were some laffs between songs, wiith Kele acknowledging the City of Angels by mocking Lindsay Lohan and dedicating “The Prayer” to Christian Bale. And one fan threw a red teddy bear onto the stage. \m/

  1. I’d like to know if Menomena played any new songs…

  2. Lindsay Lohan needs a shoulder to cry on y’all… “LEAVE LINDSAY ALONE!”

But hey what’s up with Menomena pulling an “Axl-Rose” by only doing 7:50? ?!
