Pulp hero Jarvis Cocker releases second solo collection Further Complications next month. It was produced by poker pro Steve Albini. How’d that happen? From Paste: “The two met while the former Pulp frontman was in Chicago for last year’s Pitchfork Music Festival; Jarvis paid a visit to Albini’s Electrical Audio studio to put some new songs through their paces. The experience (and the price: ‘very cheap’) was perfect, and thus a partnership was born.” P4K bromance! They slap-a-da bass, mon! Garagey first single “Angela” debuted on BBC2 in June of last year, and Jarv’s been playing it on tour. This is our first time hearing it with Albini’s studio magic.
Coincidentally, I just got off a call with our ad sales head Angela not ten minutes before receiving this track, so it’s hard not to make that connect. Unfortunately, quoting these lyrics would get me fired for sexual harassment. (Just kidding, there are no moralz in blogging.) How come there are (almost) no songs named “Scott”? If you write one I will post it. (I will not post it.)
Further Complications is out on Rough Trade 5/18. It will look like this:

yeah but why is Tom Green on the cover?
I’m a huge Jarvis/Pulp fan, and I’ve got to say this cover rides a fine line between stupid and hilarious. Can’t wait to hear it though and have my fingers crossed that he’ll make it back to Seattle again.
Yeah, but you got “Watching Scotty Die.” Maybe not much as a personal anthem, but don’t be greedy.
haha cock
Beard – do not want!
From Beggars:
“Angela” video coming shortly…Reportedly featuring nudity!
Jarvis + beard = deeply tragic.
nah i’d still let him give me children.
at least it’s better than the unfortunate facial hair he was sporting in the video for “the trees”. i still shudder whenever i think about it.
That cover somehow reinforces my idea that Jarvis should guest star on Black Books as Bernard’s long lost twin.
This is the worst song I’ve heard since Get no your boots…
HUGE Jarvis fan. I like the album cover (and the new facial hair!) I saw him live at Terminal 5 in ny. He played almost every track from the album. Its going to be great.
p.s. as to the question about songs about “Scott” theirs a great song by the canadian indie band PlumTree called Scott Pilgrim.
The album sounds great. Angela is probably the weakest track.
