You know Liam Gallagher. You know he loves to talk shit about other bands, and it hasn’t ended with the end of Oasis. Gallagher shared his opinion on Radiohead’s The King Of Limbs in a recent Quietus interview with Gallagher and Andy Bell about their new band Beady Eye:
I heard that fucking Radiohead record and I just go, ‘What?!’ I like to think that what we do, we do fucking well. Them writing a song about a fucking tree? Give me a fucking break! A thousand year old tree? Go fuck yourself! You’d have thought he’d have written a song about a modern tree or one that was planted last week. You know what I mean?
Compare that to what Noel Gallagher said about Radiohead a couple years back in Spin:
Correct me if I’m wrong, they’ve been making the same record since Kid A, have they not? Every time I see them live they blow me away, but you know, it’s kind of we make very accessible rock and roll music and they constantly make difficult electronic records.
Too far? Not far enough? Compare that to what Liam said about Radiohead’s fans around the same time, in The Times:
I’ve mellowed, but not in the sense of liking Radiohead or Coldplay. I don’t hate them. I don’t wish they had accidents. I think their fans are boring and ugly and they don’t look like they’re having a good time.
So if you liked King Of Limbs (and it looks like many people did), maybe it’s time to take a good look in the mirror, if you can stand it.

I’m pretty sure the lead singer for Oasis is one of the last people who can yell at a band for making all their music sound the same.
ZING! Hahahaha, Liam, you suck.
not to be a stickler, but Liam is the main singer, so you got that wrong. Noel is the one who said they’ve been writing the same album since Kid A, he didn’t yell. And then well your joke is sorta a point that Noel was making. Oasis has been making the same rock n roll record, radiohead has been making electronic records.
so everything you said was inaccurate.
Ha, sounds to me like he’s having to reach really hard to insult them. And that Spin quote, is there a word that means the opposite of back-handed compliment? Though maybe I’m just thinking that since my stance on the value of “difficult” and “accessible” (at least coming from him) is not the same as Liam’s…
It doesn’t seem a diss to me, He just didn’t like the album like other people (like the ones didn’t have the time or the will to listen to it 20 times because “it grows in you”)
I hate the fact no one can criticize Radiohead or simply not liking them
No, people should go ahead and criticize Radiohead if they’ve got valid points and can express them in a reasonable manner. Saying “Fuck that, they wrote a song about a tree? AN OLD TREE?!?!?! That’s dumb!!!” is neither.
yeah but this is the usual non-sense I don’t give a damn attitude by Liam
It’s not personal or serious
I’ve seen an interview of him here in italy, He’s actually a funny enterteining dude
he can say whatever he wants. radiohead – nor any other band – should be afforded any “special requirements” for criticism.
thank you for putting that out there noel83 it just seems that some of their music is hit and miss. some of their songs are great and some just stink of pretentious laziness.
he isn’t criticizing the album, he is criticizing the name of the album. he is stupid but he isn’t dumb enough to criticize the music.
Liam who?
Joseph Rose who?
noel83 who? (this could go on all day.)
billy vs. liam
place yer bets
a shitty man who used to lead a shitty band, and currently leads a new shitty band!
cuz that’s a very much clever comment
This is Liam’s too-obvious orchestrated plan at free publicity ahead of his new release. We know deep inside he’s just another Radiohead-fan like the rest of us. Look Liam, if you ask nicely we just might buy your new album.
Nope. Still not gonna buy it.
Radiohead is my favorite band ever. And Oasis used to be up there as well. Love me some Thom, love me some Liam, I’ll buy both their albums and watch them fight all day.

aborted babble
Never disappoints. The Gallagher brother will never disappoint…… with their comic relief that this, as they also make THEMSELVES look worse in the breath. I can’t believe that I actually took their insults seriously, and even sometimes was offended, once upon a time.
Liam doesn’t realize he’s washed up
oh Leem, i love him so. love RH, too. but Liam, that silly NIP-PLE xoxox
unrelated: I saw “blah blah Andy Bell” and my first thought was… “What?? Oasis and Erasure – how is THAT going to work? interesting!”
It’s the Battle of Britpop Round 2, Rumble of the Mumblers! In one corner wearing the blue, red and white Union Jack trunks we’ve got Liam the Dre-am, the Mancunian Mauler, bringing brawn and bawdy brawling all while slouching in a stance not fit for a fighter but also not to be taken lightly! And in the other corner wearing the Stanley Donwood designed brown, white, red, burgundy, and sickly yellow trunks we’ve got Thom the Professor, the Oxford Ox, whose scintillating smarts will sack any sucker sorry enough to step into the ring with him!
One night only! Glastonbury 2011!
“Fuck this shit, Imma go listen to PJ Harvey”

What is an Oasis?
I thought it was fashionable to take desperate, envious swipes at Radiohead after their release of In Rainbows. But, it’s just like that Oasis-guy to be four years behind the times. Just stay in your hot tub, Liam. The outside world is scary and perplexing.
Liam! Liam! Liam!!!! go fuckyourself RADIOHEAD fans!!! bunch of wankers!
he must have confused radiohead for oasis. twat

Idioteque or Fake Plastic Trees.
These are not actual Radiohead fans you are asking. I and just about every Radiohead fan I know could name off various favorite songs of ours. You just tried to single out the “Rock Band Game Radiohead Fan” as the average actual Radiohead fan. Nice try, though.
This.
No actual Radiohead fan would pick Creep as their favorite song. It’s fine… but only would be an absolute favorite if you haven’t heard anything else they’ve made since 1993.
hahahaha, are you fucking kidding me??? that is so fantastically untrue that it’s actually pretty funny. however you feel about radiohead, the notion that they have mostly bandwagon fans who only know a song from 1993 is RECOCKULOUS. their fans are pretty much the polar opposite of what you’ve described. i don’t know who the hell you’re talking to… 13 year olds who only know music from rock band?
Creep and …… blank stares ? LOL
I think that’s your own answer.
There many great song like Nice Dream, Everything in It’s Right Place, or Fake Plastic Trees. Maybe you should start listen to those song. Just in case you want to unsubscribe of “blank stare” fan’s membership.
Personally, my favourites are “Nice Dream”, “Paranoid Android”, and “Optimistic”. I love me some good “Wolf at the Door”, as well.
I’m not a huge fan but “The Bends” and “Thinking About You” are great fucking songs.
why am i not surpised about his rants??? he’s obviously trying to get people talk about him (again)
i am not going to undermine his former band… but it’s so sad to read about him talking about some talented, still kind of experimental band that are still doing music and not looking for scandalous quotes to say to get published… and never done it before…
poor mr. gallagher… could anyone get him a new job???
Apparently Liam Gallagher is on this “list” in the U.K.
The list consists of the most hated people in Great Britain:
Number 1: Adolf Hitler
Number 2: Liam Gallagher
’nuff said.
Is that The Rolling Stones or Beatles in that photo?
But seriously the new Beady Boy album > new Radiohead EP
lol Beady Eye.
I was kidding by the way
i actually kinda enjoy Noel’s comments usually, at least he has a good sense of humour, Liam on the other hand can’t help but sound like a douchebag.
If you don’t take yourself too seriously, you’ll laugh out loud to his comment. That’s what I did!
“A thousand year old tree? Go fuck yourself! You’d have thought he’d have written a song about a modern tree or one that was planted last week. You know what I mean?” *LMAO*
Exactamente. Let the snobs snicker. Liam’s commentary is legendary.
Liam is the man! By the way:The new Radiohead sucks, it sounds like a weak Flying Lotus album.
It`s easy to talk about (s)… you couldn´t understand anything…Radiohead it`s only band…that survived all these years …Jonny Greenwood it`s an amazing composer…Radiohead it´s an example of survival and adaptation…
Radiohead are brilliant, talented musicians who deserve every bit of success they have. BUT I feel we’ve gotten to the stage of fandom where nobody questions ‘The Radiohead!’
@polecat. Couldn’t agree more. No band, ‘should be afforded any “special requirements” for criticism.’
One should ask, does everyone like it because its good? Or is it good because everyone likes it?
I thought Oasis was going to be bigger than the Beatles.
This entire interview, and all of the quotes by Liam and Noel are actually not about Radiohead… they’re about self-promotion. Nobody was asking you anything about Oasis, Liam. The topic wasn’t even Radiohead. You know, that wildly successful band? It was about the MUSIC contained in their latest album.
There is barely concealed jealousy at Radiohead’s success throughout, and basically Liam sounds like the Brit equivalent of a dumb jock. The people agreeing with him sound like dumb jocks. In fact, I believe he deliberately appealed to that demographic.
I’ll seek musical advice from people who can articulate an opinion about the MUSIC. Not the thematic inspiration of the album title, not the orthodoxy that settled amongst fans of the band and how anoying you may find them, not how much you wish Oasis had been as successful as Radiohead, but what you liked or disliked (musically) about the MUSIC.
the quote was hilarious, you sound like a boring snob with no sense of humor
