In a Coachella warm-up of sorts — or, at least, a show that happened prior to Coachella — Devendra Banhart and his backing quintet played a packed show at San Francisco’s Independent. Natalie Portman’s shaved ex premiered a couple of new songs in the process. We weren’t there, but the folks at EachNoteSecure were and note:
Lightheartedly, Banhart warned the opening song “Chin Chin and Muck Muck”, “[is] not going to sound anything like this if you ever hear it… this will probably deter you from ever wanting to hear it.” And muttered, “Here we go, I’m gonna shut up.”
We’ll do the same while you listen to the slightly silly “Chin Chink & Much Muck” along with the less elaborately titled “Baby,” which, bear with me, sounds like the Strokes. Truth.

He played two other new tracks, “Three Ball Paul Can’t Help But Smile” and “Angelica,” but we don’t have proof of those. When we do, you’ll have it too.
