We’ve dissed Prince’s graphic design (non)sense and draconian web presence and poked fun at his wanting to poke Salma Hayek, but the great thing about the Purple One is that he clearly wouldn’t give two shits even if we were yelling these things in his left ear. I was going to say he’s also still clearly a great performer, but all those Leno appearances have been wiped from the web (surprise), so you’ll just have to do with his “Wild Thing” dropping take on “Crimson & Clover,” a song originally by by Tommy James and the Shondells, that’s since been covered over and over.

I’m just amazed it hasn’t been chopped by the Purple Police yet (as of 4/30), especially with the title words “Prince” and “Video” just laying out in the open for Google to oogle. Not a bad version, kind of hard to mess up Tommy James’ brilliance, and his little cop of Jimi’s take on Wild Thing was semi-inventive even. Nice work finding the black-market Japanese version of the vid, arigatou gozaimasu
