Cass dropped The Writ this week, an album we’ve been digging into since presenting you with the color-faded whimsy of the all-that “That’s That.” That’s not all Dropping‘s good for, though; “Deseret”‘s another dusty cut deserving repeat plays on your non-Radiohead playlists. Cass spins less of a story than he did on “That,” instead singing of shadows, comfort, yellow grass, and harmonies — while harmonizing. The ’60s-style psychy & western sound seems fit for fear and loving on a long ride through the desert, preferably with someone named Deseret.

And if you missed it last time, here’s this:

  1. While I don’t think this song is about it, “Deseret” was the original name for the Territory of “Utah.”

    Nicely done, Cass

Kinda similar to Deseret by Versus, no?

  4. I like what I’ve heard so far. He’s been touring with Jose Gonzalez and will be opening up for Band of Horses tourr in 2008.
