Stereogum’s Aloha love runs deep, what with Here Comes Everyone nabbing a spot in our Top Catorce of ’04, a slot on last year’s SXStereogum bill, and a mention in early ’06 that HCE follow-up “Some Echoes is another winner, equal parts prog and post-rock.” Which is what makes this track (and the forthcoming EP from whence it came) even more exciting; we know Cale’s tricksy with the time signatures and the band’s got chops and range, but December’s Light Works is meant to show off “the quieter side of Aloha,” before they drop a proper LP in Spring ’08. Music for airports…

Loving this track, setting a scene for the band to say Aloha to a loved one, sonically surfing a rogue wave into the mellow sugar of “Body Buzz.”

The Lightworks EP is out 12/4 with a full-length planned for Spring, both on Polyvinyl.

  1. Brilliant as always from one of the last great Polyvinyl bands. Can’t wait for the ep.

about your top 14 or 04: annie, drive by truckers, and of montreal still hold up better than “Funeral”? i think time has given you a big ol’ booyah on that one.

that being said…here comes everyone is such an amazing record…i had a harder time getting into their last one though.

  4. A vinyl LP picture disc will soon be available from Mi Amante Records.
