Chicago veterans the Sea And Cake are following 2008′s Car Alarm with their ninth collection, a six-song “mini-album” called The Moonlight Butterfly. Vocalist/guitarist Sam Prekop, multi-tasking guitarist Archer Prewitt, bassist Eric Claridge, and drummer John McEntire have been doing this so long, so well, that when they lock into something, it feels as smooth and unencumbered as a long, easy exhalation. Take a listen to the buoyant “Up On The North Shore.”
The Moonlight Butterfly is out in 5/10 via Thrill Jockey. Claridge did the cover art. They’ve started working on another album for release in late 2011 or early 2012.

One of the most underrated bands.
