Animal Collective is playing shows on their way to their Coachella appearance on Saturday, and according to the Animal Collective message board Collected Animals, they performed up to nine new songs at their Petaluma, California show last night. Consequence Of Sound gathered some videos from the show from Youtuber Erasmustyc. You can’t guess much about their Merriweather followup based on these clips, but it might tell you something about their set list for Saturday.

  1. 2nd video seems like a jam. It’s been way too long since I’ve seen them live! Glad they’re back.

  2. Cool. Hope this new stuff doesn’t go the way of Tomboy.

  3. Some good groundwork here.

    I thought Tomboy was the opposite, the early live stuff didn’t sound too exciting to me but it ended up great on the album.

  4. Yes for Black Dice!

  5. the guy in the last video complaining about not hearing enough songs he knew made me laugh so hard

  6. Is Deacon anywhere to be found onstage in any of these songs?

    • It doesn’t seem like he can be seen in any of these videos but he was playing with them that night. He was across from Avey, on the far right. The set up was like this from the left: Avey, playing guitar and some keyboard; Geo, doing his regular headlamp and sequencer thing; Panda on a drum set though I heard he also had a set of key next to him; and then Deak mostly playing guitar but he also had a keyboard in front of him.

  7. the last song is called pretentious girl

  8. person shooting the vid needs to learn how to hold their freaking iPhone the correct way

    vertical = baaaaaad
    horizontal = double rainbow all the way

  9. check out this panda bear “drone” music video: http://vimeo.com/24449034
