According to a poll taken by the dating website Tastebuds.fm — a site that matches people based on the music they like — Coldplay tops the list for those unlikely to “go all the way” on a first date. Tastebuds offered users three options for how far they’d take things on that initial encounter: “I’d only meet up for a chat,” “Perhaps a kiss,” or “I’d go all the way if the mood was right.” (I’m not sure how you get the mood right with some of the music these people are listening to…) Then they grouped the answers with the users’ tastes in music and came up with the following results (via NME):
Least Likely to “go all the way”
01 Coldplay
02 Adele
03 Lady Gaga
04 Katy Perry
05 Kings Of LeonMost Likely
01 Nirvana
02 Metallica
03 Linkin Park
04 Kanye West
05 Gorillaz
Does “Sex On Fire” mean nothing to you people? The “Most Likely” list was clearly compiled by Beavis & Butt-Head.

Obviously they didn’t control for gender. Men are more likely to want to have sex on a first date, and men are more likely to listen to Nirvana, Metallica, Linkin Park, etc, Particularly men of the frat boy variety. Women, on the other hand, are more likely to listen to radio pop, and the soft-rock of Coldplay and Kings of Leon. Fail.
But I still find Katy Perry on the “least likely” list to be very ironic.
I find Lady Gaga being on that list more ironic.
Her Little Monsters have so failed her!
you’re absolutely right
Where are you from that frat boys listen to Metallica and Linkin Park?? maybe middle school boys but frat dudes are more into Jam Bands and stuff like DMB. I’m not in a fraternity by the way.
I’m embarrassed to admit I looked this up — but it’s tastebuds.fm. In case anyone is interested.
Yea only dudes with low standards listen to Nirvana. Seriously.
lolololol
Good call, you’re totally right.
… that is in response to the not controlling for gender comment.
Does anyone else think that Gorillaz having any kind of effect on someone’s sex life is completely random and weird?
yes.. yes i do
Why do I hate that drummer so much?
A friend sent me this link yesterday on Twitter, knowing I’m a big Coldplay fan. But while I won’t try to defend myself, I will say #6 was the Strokes. And #7 was Radiohead.
So let’s not pretend Stereogum fanboys are getting anymore action than the rest of us.
There was a reason they weren’t reported
They should elaborate. What they mean is that Coldplay fans are least likely to put out for people of the opposite sex, obviously. Everyone already knows that though. I mean, give me a break, we all know that if your a Coldplay fan you are either gay or really really gay.
Whatever happened to listening to Prince to get laid?! Sadly, though, it does seem that all of my posters of Prince in his underwear hanging around my bedroom seem to mostly turn girls off. Not sure why.
I am a girl, and certainly not a frat boy… and I listen to all of those listed on the Most Likely.. doesn’t mean I am going to “Go all the way ” on the first date. If you are really seriously looking for a relationship… sex on the first date isn’t exactly the most efficient way to start out. Just Saying.
I wouldn’t admit listening to Linkin Park…
Why not ? They have had some amazing songs. Their earlier stuff was way better ; I don’t care if other people dislike it… a lot of the music I like would be disliked by you and probably a lot of others.
Way to go, Emily. You are making more sense than most in this thread. :)
I don’t listen to Linkin Park but I like what I like regardless of what others think or how “cool” it is.
why the hell is this the top story on Stereogum?
And if she’s into GG Allin she’ll let you defecate all over her face. Werdz.
…or into her mouth if she’s a true fan.
It is seriously ironic how you both are talking about GG Allin. I just heard of him the other day, then proceeded to get the biggest chuckles from his songs. Truly a great thing to hear. I concur, GG Allin fans are into some pretty wierd stuff.

Ha I’m not sure who made that list but I vote a rise for KOL. I can’t wait to buy “Talihina Sky” on november first. Anyone else feel the same?:) If not just watch the trailer haa..http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=y42_cd6Bgjc
They’re good, but it seems like they’re not trying new sounds and every song sounds like U2. I first heard Yellow when i received tickets in my bth at http://www.ticketwood.com/concerts/Coldplay-Tickets/index.php
