Folks were mixed on Kele’s “Flux” vocordered vocals, but everything is just a bit sweeter when it’s served up with dancing junk monsters, robots, and lovey illuminated god-like things frolicking, big-battling and tank-crashing throughout a cardboard city.

Watch it here. Some kinda post-punk apocalypse? As you may have noticed, this current version’s only available in clunky and crashy Windows Media — perhaps it’s an anti-technology morality tale. Pretty clever, dudes.

UPDATE: For those without Windows Media, we’ve got GooTube embed…

  1. someone please upload it to youtube or something! i’m under ubuntu. damn you windows media =)

  2. While I was one of the many who loved Silent Alarm and one of the few who loved A Weekend In the City (and its surprisingly spectacular B-sides), I’m just not feeling this new direction “Flux” is taking the band in. The whole Nu-Rave aesthetic is just too inauthentic, and you guys hit the mark with the Cher comparison; now that’s all I hear when I listen to that song.

Am I the only one who’s seeing the (Dance/Art Punk) Radiohead direction this band is going in? Bloc Party EP – Pablo Honey [Have their massive faults, have notable singles that launch their careers, ultimately a footnote in their history], Silent Alarm – The Bends [Very emotional, representative of the times and the people that lived in them, critically acclaimed], A Weekend in the City – OK Computer [The blatantly similar themes of paranoia, mild politics, and self reflection. This is where the two bands begin to differ though, particularly in the media/critic reception], and now the incoming Flux EP – Airbag/How am I Driving? [Signaling a future layered with Electronica experimentation?]

Again, Bloc Party is probably one of my favorite bands and definitely underrated by many, but “Flux” does not raise my hopes of a future that features a Kid A styled LP.

    I love it.

And Kid A is the best thing Radiohead ever did so if Bloc’s next is their Kid A, then rock on.

  4. This single sounds like the best thing Bloc Party has ever done.

  5. I’ve just uploaded the video to YouTube!

I really think that the verses are great, but the chorus is a stinker. I wish they could learn to write better songs. SA are their best written songs to date. Musically, it does sort of sound like the killers. Video is cool though.

  7. I re-uploaded the ?Flux? official video to YouTube! (’cause the previously was crashing at the end!)
