When the Porn stars announced their challenge to YouTube Nation (their words), we offered a set of DVDs (on top of the NPs iPhone promise) if one of you guys won. Well one of you guys didn’t. But from the looks of this awesomeness, it’s not hard to see why. Here’s the winning entry’s description:

Michael McDonald’s first music video (and Billboard chart success), “It’s Only Divine Right”, became the most influential track of the 1970s. His smooth vocal stylings, coupled with guest performances by Kenny Loggins and Christopher Cross, seemed to pave the way for 80s adult contemporary music. Also, the idea of a “music video” was revolutionary in its own right, and McDonald experiments with one of the earliest known instances of product placement. This song was later covered by Canadian powerpop group, The New Pornographers.
Another interesting fact: McDonald hasn’t replaced the phone featured in this video since it was filmed.

    This is hilarious.

  5. Are the rumors true? Neko and Dan are joining the Pornos on their current tour???? *Fingers crossed.* Saw them at Pitchfork Fest and they sounded great… though hearing AC Newman sing “Jackie Dressed in Cobras” was disconcerting.

Neko and Dan were definitely touring with the Poronographers (at least when they came to Edmonton about 2 weeks ago). It was a freaking awesome show.

Neko Case and Dan Bejar were also in Chicago on 10/19, and Dan appears with Carl in an NPR interview taped recently before a D.C. show.

Neko was on stage for the entire show I saw, but Dan only came out for the performances of his songs, plus one other on which he played accoustic guitar.

Looks like they’re in for the whole tour.

  9. Dan & Neko were at both Chicago shows. It’s my third time seeing the NP, first with them on stage. There is a considerable difference in AC singing Bejar’s songs live and Dan singing them himself (no offense to AC). They sounded great.
