It’s unclear if the version of “Tron Cat” that leaked last week is the final mix from Tyler’s forthcoming “>Goblin, and it is certain that this live version of “Analog” is not exactly how the song will sound on the Odd Future capo’s XL debut. Imperfect though they may be for the task, sketches and live versions still are ways to shape expectations for the album which Jon Caramanica called “spiteful, internal, confident, vitriolic, vividly bruised stuff, a shocking — and shockingly good — album that bears little resemblance to contemporary hip-hop,” in JC’s typically excellent NYT profile of the lightning rod rapper. This “Analog” is a live session for BBC, with Hodgy and Syd; doesn’t have the energy of some other live clips, but it is a new listen. Tyler, The Romantic:
