Remember last year when we lost our shit for francophonic Canadian rockers Malajube? That was fun, albeit tough to sing along to. Sorta late in the game for a video for Trompe-l’oiel, though, right? Well this clip, animated and produced by Mihai Wilson and David Disaro, was more a “shot in the dark,” done by two enterprising vid makers on their own dime, and received rapturously by the Malajubers. Mihai tells MTV they used a ZR-200 DVCam, my PC and StopMotionPro software for equipment, and “pillaged my library of printed objects that my girlfriend and I have collected during our travels around the globe” for imagery. Can’t say we know how the clip fits the lyrics. Fun to blow the dust off Trompe for a few minutes, though.

Sorry for the MTV embeds today, guys; we know it’s tough on our friends outside these 50 states. We’ll swap for something more globally conscious when available. (UPDATE: YouTube it is, thanks wiesengrund). Trompe-l’oiel is out on Dare To Care.
