The Glam youngsters took a sloppy, bored, somehow triumphant(ly disengaged) stab at Tom Petty’s “American Girl” for Onion A.V.’s Undercover 2011 series. As they tweeted: “We did this awful cover of American Girl. GO FIND IT. #dontdrinkat3pm #shouldhavecared.” It works better than Titus Andronicus’ murky They Might Be Giants impersonation, so even if you wanna punk slap them, maybe drinking at 3PM/not caring isn’t a bad thing after all:

  1. Hadn’t checked out their music yet. Now I don’t want to.

  2. I really love their latest album, and at both shows of theirs that I’ve seen this year, they’ve sounded pretty good. But there is something a bit off-putting about Cullen’s on-stage demeanor. Just a touch arrogant. Like they’ve almost gotten a little too big, too soon. Great music, though.

  3. These guys are old enough to drink?

  4. Last time I checked, this song was by Tom Petty, not the Strokes.
