Although “Back In Your Head” is a catchy track, it wasn’t the one we wanted to see the sisters Quin release first (we finally got that one a few weeks ago). It’s also not the one we’d expect to wind up in the hands of trance master Tiësto for a beat-thumping remix; shows how much we know. DJ Tijs Verwest strips Tegan And Sara’s breezy lead single of its signature piano plinking, but finds the lyrics’ pleading feeling in emotive synth washes, underpinning the sisters’ desperate “I just want back in your head”s with dancy melodramatics.
Liked it better when it had ninjas, but this’ll work for club night. The Con is out via Vapor/Sire/London.

I was so thrilled when I saw Tegan and Sara + remix but Tiesto? Did it have to be Tiesto? He needs to stop messing with good tracks

oh f**k you guys that say that the remix sucks… Tiesto is the best DJ I have ever discovered (believe me I’ve discovered a lot of them) and without his remix the original song sounds like a tune from the computer game the Sims ! he took the little piano jingle out of it, and that’s a good thing!!

I first heard this on the “Copenhagen” Blu Ray release and was close to being instantly hooked on Tiesto’s treatment of this track. Good song to being with, yet its quirky spirit would not seem particularly well-suited to a dance remix. But Tiesto just gives it that relentless undercurrent and turns it into an even catchier experience. If you don’t like electronic music you’ll hate it regardless. Pop / electronic / dance fans on the other hand are free to rejoice. Well done Mr Verwest. Long live Tiesto.

i am a huge tegan and sara fan but what a way to ruin an awesome song. it makes it worse that tegan and sara agreed to do this and actually played a few shows with tiesto. im appauled and so dissapointed. tegan and sara are becoming closer to being a mainstream band. **sigh** i like being the only one in my group of friends who likes them…
