The warm milk and valium cookies sound on BTW Speck Mountain’s full-length debut Summer Above has hazily seeped its way into the ears of London label Peacefrog, earning itself a spot on a roster that’s the UK home to other Stereobeloveds Marissa Nadler and José González. The first 7″ single there wasn’t even on the debut here, though we did hear it during their set at CMJ; “Blood Is Clean” is still steeped in languid ’60s psychedelia, all vibey reverb and fits of horns, shakers, and Marie-Claire Balabanian’s plague-invoking lyrics.
Summer Above is out now in the US via Burnt Brown Sounds, soon in the UK on Peacefrog.

This is a Valet cover. Valet’s Blood is Clean is totally mind melting.
I’m so glad someone clarified that. This track is an interpretation of the title track on Valet’s first album. These ‘plague-invoking’ lyrics are the words of the phenomenal Honey Owens. Now that’s a record that people really need to hear if they haven’t yet. It’s incredible.
