Not done with the Black Key’s solo LP? Neither is he. Dan Auerbach’s run on the back of Keep It Hid’s been strong, netting a slot on Conan and one at Lollapalooza, and now this clip for the gritty stomp of “Heartbroken, In Disrepair.” The video’s ultimately uneventful — just Dan backed by his touring band, Hacienda, and a second drummer in My Morning Jacket’s Patrick Hallahan — but the kicking up dust in an arid Texan field, the rusted sunset, the bone-dry workingman feel bottle the song’s vibe right. Anything more stylized would ring hollow; is the substance coloring the lens, or the other way? Doesn’t matter, it’s simple, but it works.

Boring is an understatement!
Keep It Hid is so fucking good. The guitar effect on this song pretty much makes the song.
Now is it me or was that Cousin Itt playing drums on the video? ?
It’s not Cousin It. It’s the drummer from My Morning Jacket (see above article).
I cannot stop listening to Keep It Hid. Can’t wait to see the Keys next week in Philly at The Roots Picnic!
I really dig Dan Auerbach but this video really doesn’t do it for me. There are only two songs that I skip on Keep It Hid, and this is one of them. And didn’t he shave? It’s hard keeping up with Dan’s beard.
True to the beard thing.
Still love this song, though.
