Having joined Fleet Foxes and digitally re-released his catalog to capitalize on the attendant interest, J. Tillman returns this fall with his sixth solo release. It’s titled Year In The Kingdom. Which also happens to be about the period of time Tillman’s been drumming and harmonizing for Robin Pecknold’s troupe. The lovely first single “Earthly Bodies” is a nice look at the ways Tillman’s brand of harmonized folk overlaps with that of his day job’s, and the airy and intimate ways it’s distinct. Worth a listen:
